Was cleaning bins and thought I'd snap a few pics of some of them...
Male BSB...
Female BSB...
Female BS het Bell
Male Mack Snow BSB
If you're unfamiliar with my project, here's the deal...
Last year I hatched a handful of Bells that had black spotting appear after several sheds. Most of the spots eventually fade to brown and or maroon, but I have one that has kept them longer than usual and I'm hoping they stay black. They also have a strange mix of color in their eyes which I can best describe as looking like "the inside of a clam shell". I hatched a lot of other Bells from another group last year and none of them showed these traits. Furthermore, I haven't seen any others like these, with the exception of a couple produced by a European breeder. That leads me to believe that they are unique and it could be a dominant trait. My biggest male is ready to breed and will be paired very soon with an unrelated Bell in hopes of proving this trait out. The MSBSB male will be bred back to the mother in a month or so as well. It will be a few months before I can do BSB x BSB, but I eagerly anticipate those pairings.
