Today I noticed black (really black not brown at all) spots on the neck band of one of my baby Bells... I'll have pics on Thanksgiving, but for now... Has anybody seen something like that before?

By the way, this baby is from a Mack Snow het Bell x Bell breeding.

Just curious, how many babies did you get and what did you hatch? Thanks, Paul

So far from this pairing I've gotten 4 Bells (1 just hatched and is in the inc.), 1 het Bell, 1 Mack Snow het Bell, and 1 Snow Bell. Odds are that the other egg due to hatch anytime will be a Mack Snow het Bell, but PLEASE be a Snow Bell! She still has a few clutches incubating and is gravid again. Hopefully, my other females waill start giving me viable eggs soon.

Man I can;t wait to see these pics! By the way how did that bell albino turn out for you?

Oops! I forgot you asked about her before... She's great and has put on 10 grams for me since I got her. She's at 63 now, but with the way she's been eating I think I'll wait and see if she can hit 70 grams in another month before I breed her.

Oh I'll definitely get some Snow Bell pics tomorrow! It really sucks not having my own camera and having to wait for my brother to come over to get pics.

Well my brother forgot his usb cable so I had to have his girlfriend send the pics and she resized them... So this is the best I have until Sunday when he comes back with his camera AND usb cable.

Obviously you can't tell how black the spots are, but when I get the full size pic I'll crop the neck band so you guys can see it better.

WOW those are some black spots on the neck band. Even the head looks to be developing some black. Paradox Bell?

That's what I'm thinking. We'll see how she looks after a few more sheds.

Nah... I have a few bells that also had those pronounced black specks on the neck. It looks fairly normal to me!
Beautiful bell though!!:main_thumbsup:

The degree of red color varies in bell's eyes as in the other strains of amelanistics. It doesn't seem to be as temperature dependant as in Trempers though. Some of the females incubated at 82 degrees have blazing red eyes. While others remain darker.
I took some pics for you. These 3 babies are just starting to show the black spotts on the neck. It seems to be pretty typical with Bells. :)

May very well be... Stranger things have happened with the bells, and there are Tremper paradox so, it's all in due time that paradox Bells and rainwaters develope. I think the pic looks darker in return making the spots look darker.:main_thumbsup:
