I know this question has probably been asked a billion times, but I seem to be having trouble finding it. How large of a tank will a male BP need when he is full grown? Also, how long does it usually take them to reach their adult length? Thank you!

For a male I'd go with a 20 gallon tank. But not the tall, long, skinny tanks. It'll have to be a wide 20 gallon tank. Do you understand what im trying to say? lol

If you get a hatchling, you will want to start it in a ten gallon and then upgrade it to a 20 long. How long it takes to reach full size depends on how much it eats. Babies need to be offered food every 5-7 days and adults every 7-10 days. We have two females that we ordered at the same time and they happened to come in at the exact same weight. One is an awesome eater, hasn't missed a meal and she has gained over 350 grams. The other one eats okay, but misses every now and then and she has only gained about 200 grams. So it just depends on the snake. You can ball park it to reach adult size around 18 months.

Sweet. Cause the girl at the pet store told me a 75 gallon would be ideal. Which wouldn't even fit in my room! But then, that girl also told me that tarantulas can't bite people and if they did it would kill us... So who knows.

OMG!!:main_laugh: How did you not laugh in her face?!?!?!

I saw this kid posting an add on craigslist once looking for a free 60 gallon plus tank because his ball python outgrew its 40 gallon. I sent him an email explaining they can be housed in 20 longs their whole lives. He wrote back and said that his cousin told him he had had to upgrade because the snake was getting too fat. He said since its tank was not long enough it couldn't grow length and would continue to get fatter. I responded by politely saying that his cousin was an idiot and referenced him to some care sheets. He sent me a pic and the snake looked completely normal.

Aye.... People....

I have my 3 year old in a 33 gal long. It's a 3' long tank and we probably won't go bigger with him. My mated pair are in a homemade enclosure that is 4' long by 2' wide x 2.5' tall.
