Breeding in the fall?

I'm not planning to breed this year at all, but while I'm aware that the leo breeding season is typically Feb-Aug, is it possible to instead introduce a male and female in the fall or late summer and have them breed and lay eggs throughout the winter months? If it is possible, is it a bad idea for any reason? I'm just more curious than anything.

Some breeders will have females laying all year 'round. Just depends on when they ovulate, or whether you can induce ovulation when you want to breed them, really

The huge breeders I believe breed all year long. They cool their animals down whererby they stop feeding the leo for two weeks to empty their bowels. They then shut off the heat source for a period of 6-8 weeks, offering only fresh water. They then turn on their heat source back up and start power feeding the leo to regain the little weight they lost..After a couple of weeks they put the female with the male. What this does is mimick the fall and winter months and when the heat comes back on that mimicks spring when they start to ovulate.

Last year I had a female lay two good eggs for me in late Sept. I didnt know what the season was for leos at the time and I just threw the male in with the female. So I know that they will lay in the fall. But like mentioned before it getting your females to ovulate in the fall. Good Luck when you do decide to start Breeding.

I don't mean to "steal" this post but my females have not laid eggs yet. I think they are off season because I got my last eggs from them in November! So do I have to wait till July for more eggs to start coming???

Thanks for posting this topic! My females are also not ovulating so I'm thinking they were produced off season also.
