Broken leg..

Okay, so this morning I was up and saying hello to all my babies. And one of my new additions I'm 90% sure has a broken leg. I've only had him for about a week and I did not notice it when I recieved him. I didn't want to stress him out so I put him in this cage and let him be besides he was VERY fiesty! The only time I've had him out was to take pictures that I posted here and http://www.geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=14097 (he's the Mack Snow Blizzard) which in the pictures there seems fine (Back right leg) I didn't drop him and nothing in his cage is heavy enough to break it. I am on my way to get a new battery for my camera and will post pictures of him and his enclosure cause he also has a "black spot" where I don't know if it's bleeding or what.. I also called my vet and they told me to wait and bring him in tomorrow. But, I just feel terrible!!! I'd stick my hand in there for him to get use to me and tried to touch him but feel this is why he wanted me to leave him alone...and I don't want my little guy in pain..So what to do?? Call another vet that will see him today or any advice?

I remember reading on here somewhere that people have had leos break their legs before. There's not much your vet can do except give some pain medicine for it. (i think). It's leg should heal on it's own I believe. Just take it to the vet tomorrow. It will all be ok. Just don't stress too much, I know it's hard on you too! I hate seeing my animals in pain but the little guy will be ok. The black spot may be a bruise if it's under the skin. Is he with any other geckos? He'll be ok, just don't worry yourself to death. :) (I know it's hard! lol)

I know..I'm trying not to but I just feel sorry for the little guy! Kind of like damn lady is this the best you can do for me. And no he's the only one in his enclosure. I am going to get a battery real fast..and will take a few pictures if I can't cause I don't want to try and handle him to much. And thank you..be back soon =(

I had a hatchling that seemed to get a broken leg for no reason this past season. The only thing I can think of is that she was housed with her clutchmate who may have grabbed her leg and held on. I noticed it because she was walking funny with the leg at an angle. When I checked, it looked swollen and bruised. I did keep her with her cagemate and left her alone. She didn't seem to be acting any differently and I don't know if she was in pain. Over the next few weeks she improved and eventually I couldn't even tell which one had broken the leg, so she made a complete recovery and the swelling disappeared. Hopefully you will have the same experience.

Alighty, I didn't want to bother him too much or even try and hold him. So here are the pictures of his leg (back left) I was wrong sorry. He has been on his own since I've had him. That's whats bugging me is how..I've picked him up once just to lay white paper under him for a picture. And in my opinion nothing in his cage could have cause this but I could be wrong. Anyhow, please take a look and see what you think as far as his leg and if you think there is something in his cage could have done it let me know and I will change it. Thanks Guys and sorry about rambling...I just feel like a bad Mom.

Hmmm...it may just be popped out of place. It's right at the joint so it could be just popped out. My guess would be that he was climbing on the moist hide box and fell funny on it.

Do you have any little kids around the house? Could be someone wanted to "play" with the gecko. He's so cute too! Good luck at the vet! Hopefully he'll be ok.

I had my 2 year old horse do this on a fallen tree. He tried to jump it and clumsy him tripped over it. I thought it was broken too! The vet came out the next day and popped it back into place. He is doing great now. It was worse than the geckos if that makes you feel any better. He had a huge cut where we could see into his muscle.

Yea..okay just got off the phone with the vet. He told me that if it is broken pretty much nothing you can do maybe be able to splint it. But, I just want to take him to see whatever it may be broken or out of place and nothing more serious.

Also no kids..like I said I've had him a week today and I don't handle my "newbies" that much untill they settle in a bit. And with him I never could so I didn't try...he was biting and screaming when he was taken from the tub to his cage lol ...so I was letting him just chill out.

However my appointment is at 4pm today and will update when I return..wish him luck =(

Alrighty, back from the vet. It is broken..but he watched him walk around checked his mouth and everything else out and feels he will make a 100% recovery. He has been eating and has gained weight since I've had him so he told me to keep a close eye on him and if anything changes bring him back in.

He's doing great, he just shed as well which worried me but piece of cake. Still limps...but put everything close as well so he doesn't have to work for anything.
