What was the final damage to the wallet? I plan on making one myself if its significantly cheaper than buying one already made.

I built one similar and total cost with heat and all came out to about $120-$125. Much cheaper on a per tub comparison Vs what you get buying pre-made/shipped.

i paid a bit more i think the plastic was around $96 then the tubs maybe $40 for all then heat tape prolly $30 ducting tape $10 wires $10 johnson controls thermostat $90 so like $275 of course the thermostat can control multiple racks so that helps but it was a little pricey but i think the look of it is better than the ones i saw at the reptile expos

The $120-$125 I posted was just the rack materials ($98.00 w/tax and cut) and the heat tape (about $25.00). I had all screws, wire, and tubs already and had a few extra Helix DBS1000's laying around.

cool, thanks for posting this, i think i may go with this setup this year for my leos anyway. not sure if i'm gonna start breeding just yet but it would be nice to have my leos/fatties contained in one area.

Ok so i'm a complete noob...are the shelves made from plastic sheets? I'm thinking of setting this up in the next month or so...so much to learn.

Congrats yours turned out much nicer than mine. I got overcharged real bad, and paid 150 for 2 sheets of 1/4" material. It was kinda a pain to work with, and hard to cut evenly. Next time Im gonna get the 1/2". However I think I will get some 1/4 for a hatchling rack lol. Looks great again BTW!

I used 1/4 material on our fist rack and I wish I didn't. I had to put extra material and time into supporting the shelves to keep them from bowing. I would definately go with 1/2 inch next time and use 1/4 or smaller for the back piece.

Your rack looks great! :2thumbsup:

psypulse:
"qt" means Quart. Quarts are a measurement of the volume in things and in this case it's the volume of tubs.
