Depedns on if you are looking for live or frozen, places like petco and petsmart don't have live feeder mice only frozen, the frozen ones are really healthy cuz they are loaded with all the nutrients. If you buy a live one from a pet store depends on how well the pet store takes care of them. Pinkies are harmless they don't have any teeth or claws yet so you won't have to worry about your gecko being hurt.

You should not be feeding your leo any pinki mice unless they are breeding and just layed eggs ect. Pinki mice are not very good for them. They are insect eater. It's hard for them to break down the mouses bones ect. Just plain flat out, don't get 'em!

Leopard geckos are insectovours, therefore are esigned to eat and digest insects. They have trouble swallowing the pinky since they are even bigger then their heads(usually) and tehy cannot digest the bones, cartilage, hair. Pinkies are also very fattening whichc an elad to other problems.

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention that they should only be used when the leos are breeding or if you are trying to fatten up one that is skinny.

i disagree. my geckos love em. ive never had any problems. my geckos probably get pinkies about once every six weeks.

when you folks say the geckos cant digest the bones hair etc, what do you think happens? it just stays in their stomach impaction style?

they still eat and poop after eating pinkies. if you look at their poop you dont see hair or bones.

if all you fed was pinkies, yah that would be bad. they are not a problem when you mix em in with other food though.

as far as the geckos getting fat, who cares? if thats your biggest problem, id say your doing something right.

as far as getting the pinkies goes, i just go to my local pestore and ask em. four pinkies please (cuz my male eats two at a time).

Since I have snakes, in my monthly mice/rat order I'll put in some pinkies for the geckos.

Pinkies should not be fed often, if you feed pinkies to often it will lead to a bad bladder. Often is more then once a month in my opinion.

The only time a pinkie should be fed is in breeding season or if you rescued an adult gecko that is underweight. There are no dificulties of digestion if you feed pinkies rarely if you feed them often that is a difrent story.

Wax worms are insects and do have some fat matter to them, I'd advise you to feed them in SMALL quanites weekly(once a week don't include this to the daily stample diet) if you can't find pinkies.

I heard pinkies were great for once in awhile. My female LOVES them and I would almost feel bad taking them away. They did not seem too big for her at all, she had zero problems with eating one. I heard once a month was great?

However, the only reason why I fed her one is because she was over-bred and skinny.

Here is a pic of her eating:
