Hey :D

I've just bought the exoterra calcium powder supplement for reptiles and amphibians. On the back of the box it says that it should be mixed with another exoterra supplement: multi vitamin powder supplement before dusting your insects.

Can I just feed her this on it's own?? or should i get some pure calcium?

yeh the back of the tub is right. it should be mixed.

since ive noticed your in england can i recommend the Vetark Nutrobal. Its a multi vit with calcium and D3 and provides everything you need. If you buy this it requires no mixing and no other supplements.

:main_thumbsup: I would like to add that if the calcium supplement you bought does not contain D3, it does not have to go to waste. It is a good idea to leave a milk/bottle/gatorade/whatever cap full of it in the tank for your gecko to eat from when he needs an extra calcium boost.

okay.. i'll have to look out for that brand tomorrow.

Sooo, I have to mix it :/ I'll have to find some of the multi-vitamins tomorrow to mix it or just get that brand that includes all the stuff. Will she be okay with no supplement for a day?
or should I just put a bottle cap filled with the stuff unmixed until tomorrow evening?

If I cannot find the brand.. can i just get pure calcium?

Yes she will be fine without the calcium for a day.
they can last a while before issues begin to arise but i wouldnt wait too long lol.

Good luck finding what you need :)

Also, im in England too so if you ever plan on buying new gecko's keep me in mind haha. Or if you just feel like asking questions. My site is on my profile.

Personally, I like the supplements that come premixed. It takse all the guesswork out of things and, when adults don't always eat on the same day, there's no confusion.

Well I am using the calcium I have now :D I will buy a better one, the mixture soon. I dust her food twice a week. and always leave a little calcium in the food dish. I have been told to use a UV light, but of course a low watt compared to other reptiles. She has always had a UV light and I didn't want to break her routine.

leopard geckos are nocturnal and do not need UV lights. as far as supplements premixed, i have been using repashy supercal plus with really good results so far.

UV makes them produce d3 or something, and if your supplementing her d3 too then its bad. i think they can overdose. i think thats right? someone correct me if what i said was just nonsense lol.

Plus as mentioned above they are nocturnal and not going to get any use of UV light, so your wasting money on electricity.

I believe what I had read about D3 and light supplimenting UV is with leos since they are noctournal they lack the ability process to absorb D3 from uv sources like other lizards, which is why we suppliment it. And yes too much D3 is not a good thing. Google D3 toxicity.

I will have a look at that google thing.
I'm an idiot lol I take too much advice from people because im always worried that my leo is not getting what she needs or what shes used to? I just want to make sure she is getting everything! soo she will be healthy.
I've just paid about £35 for a low 14 watt uv light for her and the set up it attachs too because people at work say shes used to it and needs one lol.

but i dont know... because they are nocturnal but some leopard gecko are said to be crepuscular.. active at dawn and dusk.. when the sun is out but not very bright.

Leopard Gecko's are a nocturnal species. There are not some that are crepuscular, some may just seem that way. My gecko is frequently out laying around in daylight hours, but he really gets active at night and into hunting mode. In the wild Leo's would not be out basking in the sun. Due to the fact they are a nocturnal species they do not require UV lights to sit under.
