My little bro was changing the tank around for his favorite gecko (Stewart) and he left his Leo in a small open top basket in our back room on a stool. When he came down to get Stewie the basket was empty and there was no sign of the gecko. Does anybody have any suggestions on where he might be? We checked outside everywhere, searched every cranny in the house, and tore apart the back room he was last seen in. Help would be EXTREMLY appreciated.

Starting with the room he was last seen in, keep looking in, around, and under everything. Expand your search to adjacent rooms from there.
Good luck.

Thanks. We literally just finished looking through the room he was last spotted in. The main problem is that we have 3 dogs who won't hurt him, but will scare him senseless.

If you have hardwood floor you can sprinkle some powder around and check for footsteps. You should keep the door shut and keep the dogs out, if not he will never come out. Put a small dish of water and one of worms on the floor and when it's dark sit quietly to see if he comes out.

Hope you find him:(

Thanks, I think it might work. He is extremely pampered and will come out at some point or another.

Be sure to check the areas where it would be his perffered warmth.

Right now we have a trap set up. We turned the heat up in the room we lost him in, then put his water dish down with flour surrounding it. Worms aren't a prob because we have plenty of escaped crickets throughout the house. I'm pretty sure he is just hanging around somewhere out of sight.

If by any chance you have a refrigerator near by check under it. It seems to be a favorite spot for escapee reps!

Over the past 16 years, I have had many geckos escape out on an adventure; one for nearly 3 months! I did everything you would think of... a hide, water, heat, turned the house upside down, moved furniture, and even looked in every shoe in the closets. I have fortunately found every one of them safe and sound although a little cold and thirsty. I have found them in various places, but in almost every case, it was at night when I wasn't really looking for them. I simply switched on the light and saw movement out of the corner of my eye, and there the gecko was! Good luck...

I had four geckos escape, and found all of them, too! Two had thrown off their tails, because I have three cats, but otherwise were fine. One just came back voluntarily and sat nicely under my chair when she got hungry. The third one was at the very top of my bedroom curtain!!! Never thought she would climb the drapes, but I just needed to pluck her off and set her back in her cage.

Good luck finding Stewart!!! :main_thumbsup:
