Candles

Does anyone know if it's ok to have a scented candle lit in the same room as a gecko?

When I clicked to search it wouldn't work.

We have plug in air freshners in some of the rooms my leo's are housed in. I haven't seen any problems...However it isn't a strong smell, it's also not right by the tanks. but across the room maybe 15' or so...

I've sprayed Febreeze, burned incense, and candles in the same room as the geckos. Although I don't like the Febreeze as much but the incense and the candles I use don't have iron in them and are the fancy, organic expensive kind (think they smell so much better than the cheap ones.) So as long as it's not in the tank with them, and you don't do it all the time, I don't think it'll hurt them. Smoking is probably more detrimental than any scented candle.

Thanks guys! I had been wondering ever since I got her...I miss the smell of my candles. I've heard about not burning candles in the same room as birds(not sure if thats true) so was wondering if it might be the same with geckos. Thought better to be safe then sorry.

I have to burn candles in the room with the leos. Everyone, including the crickets are in my room, lol. And they can stink! (Crickets mostyl), even though I am religious about cleaning cages... One poopey and yuck! Anyways, candles are a must for me.

you should avoid spraying any air freshner near the gecko as they can get a ri from it as most contain harmfull substances. Dave

I use scented candles, not for any leo or cricket smell, but to get rid of dog smell! lol
One of my two dogs refuses to be seperated from me at night so he sleeps in my room, but i hate the doggy smell! I've never noticed any issues when I burn mine, and I also use febree, but only the one you spray on fabric... I hate the air stuff.

Thats actually why I like burning candles too... I have 3 dogs

Dave, no problem with spraying air freshnders...never use them.
