I usually only take leo photos, but of course most of them are in shed! So I took some random snake pics (hope yall don't mind) since I had to wait around for a bathtub full of frozen rodents to defrost LOL

This last photo really cracked me up! She is gravid with 9 eggs and still her feeding response is insane- I literally had to jump out of my shorts!

Cool! :main_laugh: Awesome colors both on your CT's and your snakes!!

Silly non-snake-person question: how can you tell she's gravid with 9 eggs? Can you see the shapes of 9 eggs through her body? :main_rolleyes:

Since I own a rental property, I'd better not get any snakes, or I might not pass the next inspection :main_laugh: But I sure do admire them!!

Thanks everyone for the comments! Let me try to answer some of the questions:

"Silly non-snake-person question: how can you tell she's gravid with 9 eggs? Can you see the shapes of 9 eggs through her body?"

Visually it is difficult to see exactly how many eggs she has, but I mainly use palpation and as a last resort, ultrasound. Womas and retics are not the best candidates for ultrasound or radiographs-they just don't want to sit still! Other species such as ball pythons are great snakes to practice palpation and ultrasound.

"That # 5 Zonata is gorgeous. What is the locale? All fantastic animals"

Thanks! Z's are one of my favorite snakes. I'm not sure about the locale information, but "Wooky" is a captive bred/produced laboratory zonata produced at UCSC by Dr. Mitch Mulks (world expert who wrote the zonata book). "Wooky" is strictly a pet and belongs to my good friend who is doing out of state endocrinology research on cheetahs/endangered species which is why he's currently with me. His abberant pattern and lack of red were due to an experiment on varying temperatures during incubation and is not genetic.

"in the second photo with the eggs. what is that emergoing from that one egg?"

Hey Robin, sorry I didn't see your question. The eggs pipping are anery and snow cornsnakes. The majority of my kings, milks, corns, hognose, boas/pythons etc are all wholesaled locally. On rare occasion I'll post some designer colubrids or hognose mutations individually on classifieds. Remember a while back I said I have a "few" animals? =)
