I'm in no hurry to buy a rack system anytime soon but i've looked around the internet a little bit and everything i find, is to me, really expensive. I dont really want to build one myself either. Is there anything out there that one of you might own that is of a decent price? It would be great if you could post a link.

Thanks!

I'm personally not a particular fan of racks, though I have a 16 tub one I bought from someone for a good price ($70 complete with tubs and heated) for overflow babies. Since I like to see my collection, in my opinion the best "rack" (and not too expensive) is to invest in cheap shelf units from Lowes or Home Depot and then get front opening "stackable" tanks that are half height of normal size from glasscages.com. I divide these cages into sections, heat it with heat cable along the length and have "display racks".

Aliza,

Do you have some pics of your setup?

Your system seems to be close to what I'm wanting as I add more and more(and more, and more, and more....hahaha) to my collection, but I'd like to see someone else's setup!

Thanks!

Here are 2 areas of my collection from about 4 years ago. It looks a bit different now and I have more areas (this is my living room) but you get the idea.

I'm like Aliza..I need to see my animals. The rack that I was really fond of was from boaphile plastics---and it cost somewhere around $3000. So I made mine. Mine wasn't at all cheap to make (cost about $300 total for two units). But it's cheaper than the boaphile unit.

Mine looks like this.

I'm going to be building an overflow rack, though. I'll have more hatchlings this season than I anticipated. The estimated cost for the rack is $45, not including the thermostat I'll have to buy. The left over heat tape I have is helpful too lol

Even with that factored in, it's still much cheaper to make a rack than to buy one. I haven't found a decently priced pre-made rack yet
