That's horrible. Did you end up taking it in?

No she lives in the classroom, but the teacher didnt know what to do for her. I went in to show my skink and crestie to the class and she asked me to help her gecko with its feet. She said she tried to help it but couldnt get the shed off. After a lot of soaking and tweezing I got it off and redid her setup which was on sand :main_angry: and didnt have a humid hide. She fixed it up so peekaboo will be ok once her feet heal. I know poor thing it broke my <3

thats so sad at least he doesn't have the shed on him anymore.

I'm not a big fan of class pets. If you havn't done so already you should tell your sons teacher to keep an eye on those little feet because you don't want any infections b.c they look pretty bad.

WOW. Just by looking at the first photo I knew the gecko had been kept on sand. You did an amazing job... I'm glad the poor gecko didn't get dry gangrene.

Really? do you think sand had something to do with it? Just asking bc I am new to the leo gecko world. I know sand is bad bc of impaction, but could it be a problem with shedding too? And yea I feel like if I didnt for some reason find and help the poor girl her feet would have eventually fallen off

Absolutely! Most sand is silica-based, which is the same stuff that's in those little packets you find in new shoe boxes, purses, etc. to absorb moisture.

I didn't know that! That's horrible! Chock (chalk? chok?) that up to one more reason why NO leo should be kept on sand :main_yes:
