My leo keeps trying to climb her fake tree like she used to, but now she is too heavy and falls off. What do you all recommend that is easy (and safe)for leos to climb on?

How tall is the fake tree?, Aslong as its not to high, it should be fine.

The problem is she is so heavy that she can't even get up it anymore. She climbs onto the lowest leaf she can find and once she gets half of her weight on it, she slides off.

So simple you probably already ruled it out, but could the tree be turned on its side? What is it that she likes about the tree? Is she using it a lounge or hide?

She used to climb all around it (like the pic I attached), but now she ust slides off the leaves before she can get up. I am just looking for something that is easy for them to grip, like maybe one of those articifical brandches? I don't know anything about that stuff, which is why I asked on this thread.

go outside and cut yourself down a piece of wood from a hardwood or fruit tree and stick it in there. is she wants leafs then take some of that glue gun glue and glue her on some leaves too

make sure to wash you wood good.. in about 1:10 bleach solution. rinse it very very well, even let it soak in plain water after being bleached. then let it dry out completely before placing it in the enclosure. it generally takes a day or two total

Alright, I may try that, but I gotta get through the 8 inches of snow first.

make sure it isnt a softer wood though. the softer woods can be toxic to leos, well any reptile really. no pines, junipers, cedars etc. i generally use oak but thats all we have other than cedar trees LOL. you do not need a huge piece. you can determine what is big enough for even once she is an adult. you dont have to cut a whole tree down just like a branch or something

hey, a good way to sterilize anything that comes from outside is to cook it in your oven.

ive done it lots of times with rock and wood with no problems..

I use cork bark flats, my geckos like hiding under it, and climb on it at night. I just rinse them under water, then bake for 45 minutes for disinfecting.

I'd also suggest going by some of the pet supply shops in the area and looking for a nice piece of driftwood. You could also hot glue some artificial foliage to it as Robin suggested. The driftwood pieces mostly tend to have at least one side you can use at the base, on which they'll stand pretty well without falling over. And it's pretty unlikely that your leo will tip over a sturdy piece of driftwood. Good Luck with whatever you decide to go with! :)
