The cluth egg of the one below hatched 36 hours ago. It has swollen as you can see in the picture. Is it normal to hatch this much longer after the first egg? Is there anything I should do or just sit back and wait?

I would just wait. It could be that the first one hatched a little early and this one will hatch a little late. We've had clutches go 5 days between the two hatchings I believe.

What temp are you incubating at? This will give us an idea of when they should hatch.
incubating a 88-89 - the egg really was on the same size schedule as the other egg. they both starting swelling the day before and really got big on the 2nd. It now has been 4 days and the egg seems to have lost some of it's size in the past day.....

any suggestions or still wait?

Yup, still wait... We also thought our egg decreased in size a little bit when this happened to us, but then after awhile, it started to look like it was going to explode again.. four days isn't abnormal, many people have clutchmates hatch within 5 days of eachother. The little guy/gal should be hatching very soon!

This is our egg about an hour before it hatched... It's actually sweating in this pic but I don't know if you can tell... I could have sworn it was much bigger at one point (like the day before), but it ended up being just fine!

The outer shell has not been broken. And I haven't seen any movement in the egg.

I candled the egg yesterday it seemed very dark with an orangish tint in the upside of the egg. I'm not for sure how it is suppose to look candled this far along.

hmm..well the dark area is pretty normal, that should be the baby...and the orange doesn't sound like a bad sign. We never saw any movement in our egg either.. maybe he's trying to get out? I really don't know, what you describe sounds great except for the deflated, soft shell if it's not hatching

Here is a quote from another thread titled "some problems"

I have had eggs go 7-8 weeks then start deflating and when I opened them up there was nothing in there. I have also had a few eggs start to go bad after 6-7 weeks and when it was clear the egg was no good I opened it up and there was a dead baby. It could be either of these situations or something else with humidity.

I opened the egg. The baby was fully developed but dead. It does look smaller than its clutch mate as far as length and of course body. :main_huh: :(

It had probably died a week or two before the other on hatched then. Sorry to hear about it. It's the downside to breeding, when nature decides to take a course that you hadn't wanted.
