I AM SO PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW MY BLOOD IS BOILING...

So my best bud in the world Niko the cat has been acting lethargic and isn't moving his tail... He either injured his tail or had clogged anal glands... My mom took him into the vet this morning... They think he injured his tail... So lets give him an anti inflammatory... If it doesn't improve by Tuesday we'll get some x-rays... What the fuck?! HE'S NOT MOVING HIS TAIL... HE DOESN'T FEEL HIS TAIL... HE HAS A GOD DAMN SPINAL CORD INJURY... HMMMM... MAYBE WHEN I BROKE MY NECK THEY SHOULD'VE JUST SENT ME HOME WITH SOME PILLS... I WANT TO GO INTO THAT PLACE AND SNAP THE VETS FUCKING NECK...

I am not like this... I am a very peaceful person, but when you fuck with my family you get what's coming to you... If I was still driving I'd crash my van right through their front door and burn that fucking place to the ground...

That really sucks. How long has Niko been acting like that? It's weird because our Chihuahua was acting the same way a few days ago and I was really worried. His tail was even sensitive to light pressure. I was going to take him to the vet the next morning but he was acting fine again. I think it may have been a reaction to his monthly flea medicine. Keep us posted on how he's doing.

I understand your frusteration, and in fact I compleatly agree with you. ANY time you have a complaint of that nature it's standard protocol to offer the client radiographs...it sounds like they looked at the cat, decided that the cat injured it's tail, sent you home with some medication, and told you to come back if it gets worse ...do I have it right? How much worse do they expect him to be before he comes back, falling over??? They didn't speak to you about the possibility of an injury to the pelivis or spinal cord? And they didn't offer you any kind of diagnostics that day? Something was really overlooked and I don't blame you for being upset, Mike. These are the types of vets who do things that really give the profession a bad reputation among pet owners. Make sure you keep an eye on his posture and how he's walking, how he sits, how he moves his neck, etc. I feel terrible that the visit went so bad...if you lived closer to me, we'd take good care of him :)

Thanks Mel and Maia for your concerns... :main_thumbsup:

It seems I over reacted... Niko was in the window watching birds and his tail moved! Yay anti inflammatory drugs! He's only moving it a little, but this is definitely a good sign... The even better news is he has feeling in it again! He's the type that hates having his tail touched... The past couple of days he wouldn't even notice when I grabbed (very gently) it... His normal reaction would at the very least be a nasty look, but he'll usually grab your arm with his claws and bite you... Well after I saw him move his tail I lightly brushed against it with my hand, he turned around and looked at me like wtf... I haven't been this relieved since he returned from a three week adventure... :D:D:D:bigcry::bigcry::bigcry:

Now instead of burning down the vet's office I think I'll send them a thank you card... :main_yes:

LOL glad to hear you don't have to burn down the vet's office after all!! ;)

We have a cat that is the very same with her tail being touched, she's really bitchy a lot of the time actually :main_laugh: I'm glad your cat is doing better Mike :)

LOL, i'm so glad Nico is doing better with the medication (Metacam?). I'm still concerned that they didn't offer radiographs immediately. But hey I guess if the shoe fits..."Thank you" cards & calls are always a good thing...for me, it's what makes the job really worth it. I keep a few in my desk for those moments that I need to be reminded that someone appreciates me.

I'm glad it wasn't anything serious. :)
