I got bitten again! Long story short, I was checking out on Marly because he shed last night; then I saw Bubu at the front of his tank waiting to be picked up, so I did. When he got on my hand, he started sniffing, and I knew he sensed Marly, so I tried to put him back. But I was too late! He locked on to my little finger already. He didn't let go, and the water spray trick didn't work; only made him bit harder. Luckily, I have a pair of pointy tip chopsticks nearby (for picking up silkworms), I inserted one across the gap of his mouth like a horizontal bar to take up some pressure from his bite, and he released me shortly after.

I bled A LOT! And it hurts too.

Bubu is the most mellow gecko I have, I never dreamt that he would bite me. He should be very familiar with the scent of other geckos; because I had been dealing with them the same way since they were a few months old (now they're 8). Here is a pic of him taken last week:

p.s. No need to tell me about salmonella, wash hands between handling...etc. I know what I'm doing.

Ouch! That's a good amount of blood for a leopard gecko bite! I have only been bitten once where it drew blood and it surprised me how he wouldn't let go:shocked::main_laugh:

Ouch! I am so lucky that none of mine have drawn blood for me yet. My husband did get bit bad once though.

I keep seeing posts like this, and it's always the same story... "He's normally such a sweet thing, I just reached in, and CLAMP!, and now he's sweet again. I don't know what happened."

Now every time I pick up mine I think "Is it time for my bite club post?" And you know, it wouldn't be that bad if I knew when it was going to happen. It's the waiting that's killing me.

And yeah, ouch, looks like it hurts.

Well Bonnie....You probably never thought
I'd jump on this with a try at "Humor."
But a Gecko Guy with chubby Sumo Wrestler
fingers will have to make an attempt.
But first: Sorry about the Bite. They do hurt
and I'm aware too from experience
(on a chubby thumb)
OK, here we go with what I think happened.
Bubu has seen you kissing Marly good night
and he noticed how passionate Marly got with
the Lip Lock he put on you.
Bubu also read your mail about misting
so he was prepared for that.
Now I'm really sure that the two guys like
each other by now so that they don't mind
each others scent. (don't publish this untruth)
Marly's kiss bite is still the top bite I've seen.
PS :By any chance did you have time to video the
unlock method you used?
Take Care. HJ

Ahha! That's it! No wonder why he just closed his eyes and kept his jaws locked when I misted him. I thought I would at least suprise him or something...jeez.

p.s. It was Hardee that bit my upper lip last time, not Marly thank god. If it was Marly or SiuFu, I would probably lose a chunk of flesh...

That is the second bite I have seen draw that much blood, must of stung.

I've had my male sense my female's scent on my hand and latch onto my palm. It wasn't so bad for me, all he got was my callus. I have had a few bites though but most of them show no evidence or if they do its like the cuts you get from the serrated edge of a Scotch Tape cutter.

Nice One Bonnie! That looks as nasty as one I got a couple of years ago. I still have a V-shaped scar on the underside of my right index finger. I have been bitten on 3 occasions by large males and I continue to be astounded at the blood they can draw when they get hold of a finger and clamp down.

Ive only been bitten once and it was by a gravid female. I had just moved and had her in a cage that was in the upstairs where the cats had full access. I think they must have been terrorizing her and when I went to pick her up she thought I was attacking her and BAM! clamped on and would not let go. She grabbed onto the fatty part of my right index finger and started shaking. Yep it hurt but no where near as bloody as yours.
