Quality websites create a positive impression on the visitors. Such websites get a higher amount of traffic and online business. These websites manage to create a very good initial impression with the help of appealing and user-friendly web designs. The time that you get to leave this impression is just a few seconds.

Those who are not an expert in web designing can approach a web design firm to get the needed web designing service .

You should approach only an experienced web design firm to design your website. Lack of proper experience in web designing will create bad web designs that may tarnish your impression before the users.

Here a few common web design mistakes made that you have to avoid.

• Websites which are slower are not appreciated by the visitors. Your website should download fast, or else the visitors won’t stay long and may go to the website of your competitor.
• The layout of the webpage should not be cluttered and the navigation links should not be placed in scattered manner. They should be placed in an organized way.
• The web content should be free from typing and grammatical errors. The content for the webpage should be placed in a proper format; neither too big, nor too small. It can be broken down to paragraphs, with the needed bullet points and sub headings.
• Give adequate importance to the white space on the web page.
• The colors which are used should be pleasing to the eye.
• Don’t install any built in music arrangement which cannot be controlled by the visitor. The website should have buttons to control the music.
• Avoid poor layouts that take away the beauty of the website.

Automatically playing music is almost as bad. Honestly, just do away with the music altogether. If somebody wants to listen to erasure badly enough I'm sure they can find it on youtube.

Really though, I thought most people had progressed past these web design mistakes and into making all new ones. Kind of like the ones on the site you posted.

  • Make sure that if javascript or flash are disabled, that your page degrades gracefully, and functionality doesn't suffer.
  • Embedded video that serves no real purpose other than to run a commercial. Your website is your sales pitch. You don't need commercials inside of commercials.
  • Link soup. Categorized links should go into pages for said category. We're conditioned to work through web pages in a hierarchical manner. F your SEO gaming.
  • Menus that require user interaction to display all menu items.
  • Flash intros. I already want to look at your site, don't waste my time sitting through an intro that I don't give a rat's patoot about. Its not a crime that that page perpetrated, but I saw it listed in their offered services.

And one of my personal top ten most hated web design no-no's... frames. They're the correct solution in a narrow set of situations. Mostly they're used outside of those situations.

Oh, and don't snag somebody's images for use in your page without their permission. And if you're caught, don't react like this lady: http://www.freezepage.com/1338049475OZNLKBAZSM

I am not a fan of Spam. I use to eat it a lot as a kid...but my last trip to Hawaii made me dislike it. Any who, Sam - I believe there have been a couple threads about web design as well as members who do design as well. I don't remember for sure but I know a lot of the site sponsors use the same or similar creators.

Yeah, I had something along the lines of another web design mistake being that you advertise your service and pretend you're a disinterested party to it... and "quality first post, bro", but I've been kind of a jerk around here lately so I though I was pushing it on the off chance they stuck around.
