Crested

I came across a crested gecko with beautiful coloration at ***** today. He/she was about 4 inches long from head to tail so I am guessing he just hatched. When I asked the manager to open the cage every gecko except the one I was looking at remained motionless. Mine jumped up and tryed to climb away.

I have not yet bought him but is this behavior a sign of health or a parasite.

He looked to behaving normally when I first was observing him.

I am alway weary about buying animals from *****o as they almost always have parasites.

So what should I do he was 60 dollars which seemed like a good price.

Shopping there is similar to ordering a supersized combo meal at McD's. It might taste good, satisfy the appetite, and it's inexpensive. But, it's not recommended by doctors and nutritional experts. And, there are far better options available, for not that much more money.

Asking the experts of the GF where to buy your animals is like asking your doctor if you should eat fast food.:wink3:

i bought my two cresteds at pet co. they are cb. the one i bought are healthy they feed them cgd well where i bought mine they did i have seen them at other pet co's and they only fed crickets.. here is a thread i started when i got mine.. http://geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=19404

i'd shop around if i were you. you can probably find cheaper for better quality

If you can find a reptile show near you should be able to find a killer adult male for $60.

Just as Mel has said a local show woudl be best but,
With reptsters help you could very poss. find a unsexed crested online shipped for 70 bucks or so. You will spend 10 dollars more initially but save more than that by buying a healthy gecko and skipping the vet visits, and meds to get rid of the parasites.

I bought my girl, Crimson, from there and she's been very healthy. She was 19 grams when I got her and is up to 36 grams already. I normally wouldn't have purchased from them, but we have a really nice one that gets really pretty cresteds. I probably wouldn't buy from any of their other locations though. My other three came from breeders. I do prefer breeders, but she was too pretty to pass up.
