Lol some good stories.

I havnt had any dissasters really. I breed my crickets in a large tub that sits on heavy iron table out on the front deck (up on the 2nd story) i take a bunch from their in to a smaller container where i take them in to my room to feed my babies.

Pretty much every time i take crickets from the breeder tubto the feeder tub i lose 2-3 of them, luckely its outside so its no hassle and it gives the native geckos something to eat.

The smaller crickets used to climb or jump out when i had the lid off but recently tried putting a line of celetape all the way arond the inside of the breeder tub and havnt had any escapees since, they climb up the the line of celetape and slip off.

I had totally forgotten about this one. Like I mentioned earlier, I used to keep all my feeders outside. Well one of my cricket bins was a 60 gal tall tank..no lid as there was no way they could jump out of it. One morning I went to feed and water them and found this guy having the time of his life.

I guess he was hungry and the smell of all those crickets was too much to resist.

Hahahaha! That's awesome!

This happened to me about 3 years ago.

Let me start out with saying my wife HATES crickets but she tolerates them only because of my love for reptiles.

I bought 2,000 crickets at a local reptile swap and started feeding all my leos and cresties. When I was done, I got lazy and decided just to close the box instead of transferring them to a 10g tank I always use. BAD IDEA! Around 8am the next morning, my wife, upset as can be, woke me up screaming about how there are crickets everywhere. I see the cricket box and noticed the little circle on the side wide open. OOPS! What's worse is that we live in a condo complex and my neighbors were complaining about a cricket infestation and how they were keeping them awake at night by the constant chirping.

I was in the doghouse for days. To this day I haven't lived it down.:main_laugh:

I ordered my first big batch of 1000 crickets and was trying to transfer them into a 10gal tank. Turns out, the bag trick is a great idea... it also happens I didn't know that at the time. I ended up trying to dump them in with the tank sitting in the bathtub. So of course the result was about 300 crickets in the tank, 700 in the bathtub just waiting to be picked up by hand.

Also, my pet emperor scorp is really bad about leaving the one noisy cricket of the 2-3 I put in her tank alive the longest, and her tank is in my room, as opposed to the regular cricket "area" out of earshot.
