Has anyone heard about any of the other cricket suppliers going down or having problems? Have any of the entomologists come up with what transfers the virus? Just curious trying to figure out how fast to convert my crew to all mealies....

With the ongoing cricket epidemic, I am glad I feed mostly Dubia. Looks like it is time for more people to jump onto the Dubia bandwagon!! Much healthier for the animals any ways.

I would have to say I spend at least the same amount of time on my roaches as on the geckos and Im up around 80 geckos. My last $25 50lb bag of dog food lasted 3-4 months.
colonie size is 4 breeding colonies with 1000-1200 females each and 5000+ too big to feed + 10s of thousands on the menu. Id say with 50 geckos two colonies of 1000 females would be enough or at least a good start.

Alot of the big name cricket breeders have the virus now, Hungry Lizard does not and thats who I have switched to recently. I'm set to get my first order in this week. I produce my own mealworms and superworms but we breed bearded dragons as well and as babies they need crickets.

Has Gahanns got the virus? How long does it take a roach colony of say 500 mixed adults to get up to size to feed 175 or so lizards...Of course theres a half dozen beardies in the mix also......

shooooot man... thats too many lizards lol

it took 3 months for my colony to get to size for just one beardie. you may need some more ;)

or you could seperate the adults from the nymphs/babies... check out http://www.theroachranch.com/ i'm pretty sure he has a demo on an easy way to seperate adults from nymphs...
