So I am going through about 1500 crickets a month for 3 leo's. Not because I am feeding so many, but because they all keep dying. I have food, water crystals, hide spaces, everything. What could I possibly be doing incorrect?

TIA for all the help.

Yeah, and if they're too hot they'll dehydrate quickly too.

Also what size are you using?

When I was keeping crickets, overcrowding was often an issue. Seems like sometimes they'd rather snack on each other if it's more convenient than getting to their food. I also heard that the decomposing crickets will kill even more. This is especially a problem if their enclosure isn't adequately vented.

for say 1,000 crickets, what would be the recommended enclosure size ya think? I think overcrowding might be an issue now that you mentioned.

Hey,
I had that problem to a LONG time ago,
it may be a ventilation problem.
make sure they have a lot of ventilation you can cut "windows" in the side of the tank and close it with some aluminium window screen.

Ventilation is a huge issue as well, make sure they are well ventilated. Thats where I ran into problems with my colony

are the dead ones on their backs? if so it's definitly venilation or something like a candle or prefume or fumes of something in the air, I had crickets and they were all dying like in 2 days and I found out it was my air freshiner above them, I moved that and voila I only have like 2 dead crickets

guys thanks so much for all the help. being mainly a boa breeder, I had no idea why I had to keep spending $50 a month in just crickets to have them just die off. Off to walmart to get a more sturdy tub I can cut a few holes in and cover with hardware cloth.

y'all have any pics of the cricket enclosures y'all are using? that would help me a LOT!!!

What I have is a clear rubbermaid tote, you know the type, very common. I found with the colored ones the crickets were able to slowly climb out. I dont even have a lid on my tub. If you really need a lid then I suggest cuttingour to the edge of the lid and covering the entire thing in mesh. Gotta keep the air flowin
