That's about what I do except mine (1500 at a shot) are in a 10 gallon tank with a mesh cover. The main things to do: keep them ventilated, keep them hydrated, sift through after awhile and remove the dead crickets and molted skins.

Well… I order 10,000 crickets at a time. I ended up killing 25% of them within a day this time. So, from what I figured out this time around, here are the do’s and don’ts:

Don’t put an air tight lid on the box, especially when you have water in there. This seems to cause some to die, and the egg crates get wet. Believe me, dead, moist crickets and egg crates SMELL!!!!!

Do put food and water in there. If not give food they will eat each other. I have some that don’t have legs anymore, but are still alive. OUCH!

Do use egg crates. Believe it or not I think when you have so many crickets on top of each other that some get crushed and die. This doesn’t smell so great.

Don’t put heat on them: Didn’t learn this, this time around, but they die faster if you do.

Yep, sounds like you have everything you need to keep them alive and happy (until they get eaten by the hideous lizard monster that is!!) :main_laugh:

Keep in mind they like temps a little warm. You dont need a UTH or anything like that, just dont let them get too much below 70F or they will not do well.

They also like a little protean in their diet, so I grind up some dry cat food in the food processor for them.

For their main diet, Flukers Cricket Chow works well, and it's easy to find at the pet store.

Also, they love carrots, and carrots dont attract as many fruit flies!!
