Her name is Ella she is about a year old. I think she is around 80 lbs. But I have yet to get her on a scale. She is a Blue Nosed Pit Bull... and she is a new member to our Family.

Tamaras.. Coworkers.. Dad.. was going to take this little girl to the pound because his son [coworkers brother] was not taking care of her. Yesterday we went to meet her.. and introduce her to our two dogs to see if they got along ok. They seemed to get along very well right from the get go. So... We brought her home with us. She is a SWEET HEART! Lots of kisses.. and SOOOOO much energy.. Its kinda scary. I walked her home with a friend yesterday.. Then we went on another walk an hour or so later.. and then around 10:30pm.. I decided to take all of our dogs for a walk. Went down and walked 1/2 way around Lake Merrit and then back home.. Got home around 1:30am. Haha. She STILL had a ton of energy. Hahaha. We are not 100% sure if we are going to be able to keep her... We want to make sure that we can give her enough energy time... But it looks like we are going to keep her. Time will tell. If we don't we have a few people lined up waiting to hear from us about this cute girl. Just thought I would share. I will try to upload some more pictures later. :D

We are also planning on going to obedience training with her. There is a rescue group out here called Bad Rap that deals specifically with PitBulls.. and they give free classes. :D Woot!!

shes adorable. she looks a lot like my friend's dog, champ, who he rescued from another friend's roommate who was mistreating him. i think hes a red nose tho.

bet Ella must be a ball of fun! shes still a puppy. i have a 10yr old aussie that still acts like a puppy. be prepared for her to keep her energy for forever. lol.

Gorgeous face!! I would have taken her as well; definitely couldn't let that face go to the pound. She's still a pup, the extra energy is normal. If if comes down to it, consider a dog treadmill, it'll help.

Thanks everyone! I know that pups have a lot of energy. We just want to be fair to her.. and make sure we can help her with that excess energy.. In a good way. :D

And.. dog treadmill? Wow.. Never heard of that. Good idea though.

Yea, the dog treadmills are like $300-$500 I believe. I've seen them in the pit bull gazette that's published by the ADBA. They're great to help keep your dog exercised, especially if you don't have the time or you have a hyper-active dog. It sounds like you guys are doing great with her though. A tired dog is a well behaved one, so definitely keep up the long walks as best as you can. Ha. Otherwise, try the treadmill. I want one so bad, but can't afford it right now. MIA is driving us off the wall with her energy.

Great idea Whitney. The treadmills are a great way to exercise your pup but it's always a good idea to make sure you check your city and state laws first. There are a tons of cities accross the US where it's against the law to own a pitbull or pitbull type dog and a treadmill. They concider it "fight paraphernalia"

I know in my city it's not illegal but if Animal Control knows you own one they put you even higher on their "watch list" and you will get lots of visits from them. Just to make sure you're not involved in any dog fight stuff.

Beautifull new pit :) congrats

Yes, definitely check state laws. Good catch Bridget.

Jeanne, you've never heard of blue nose Pit Bulls? :-( That's what MIA is. I don't think it's really supposed to be capitalized "Blue Nose" as it's just a trait, like red nose.

Have you heard of the red nose APBTs? They're a little more common? But usually most blue APBTs have a blue nose; not many people actually use it to classify their dog. For example, when asked what color MIA is, I've never said "blue nosed, blue Pit Bull with white markings;" it's always just blue Pit Bull with white markings.

Yey Terminology? ;)

And.. Weirdness...
Ella had a small bump on her head when we got her. When we told her previous owners about this they did not remember seeing the bump. Over the past couple of days it has stayed the same size. But this morning we noticed it was dramatically larger. I was wondering if any of you know what this could be. I was also wondering if you know where we can get free or discounted vet attention in the SF Bay Area?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Here are some pictures..

I posted this on a Pit Bull Forum as well.. I am waiting for my Vet to get back to me. :(

Red Nose Pit Bulls are VERY popular, they even have a category in Confirmation classes for "Best Red Nose". And, yes, I have heard of Blue Pit Bulls, the ones I have seen are a greyish color, is yours grey?

She's gorgeous!

Is the bump soft or hard? Our Bulldog has a lump on his neck that we noticed for the first time when he was a couple of months old. It just kid of grew with him. We asked the vet while we were there one day and he took a sample from it with a syringe. It was just a fluid filled cyst, no big deal.
