D3 overdose?

Right now I'm giving my baby leopard gecko calcium that, I think, has D3 in it. But a few days ago I learned that the calcium that you constantly leave in their tanks to lick up should have NO D3, to prevent D3 overdose.

I've been looking EVERYWHERE for calcium that has no D3 and is just regular calcium. But I couldn't find any at any of my local big chain pet stores. There were several different brands of calcium and they ALL contained D3.

If anyone knows where to get calcium without D3, or calcium that is safe to leave in their tanks at all times, please let me know or send me the link!

Also, links to where I can get vitamin A. From my understanding, they get it from the bugs they eat, and I feed his mealworms/ crickets carrots. But if I need to be dusting his food with vitamin A please let me know where I can get some. Thanks!

Rep-cal makes a calcium both with and without D3. ZooMed makes calcium without D3. Failing that, you can always get some finely powdered calcium online from a human general health store.

Repashy calcium plus appears to be a good source of vitamin A. There have been some issues with vitamin A that I don't think are necessarily solved yet:
--what source of vitamin A can best be absorbed by a leo
--how to deliver the right amount of vitamin A (it is pretty clear that they don't need a whole lot and that it should be in a powdered vitamin/mineral supplement like Repashy calcium plus or Reptivite vitamins as opposed to pure vitamin A).

I hope this was helpful.

I recommend folks use Repashy Calcium Plus. Most big chain pet stores have it at around $10 for a 3oz bottle. It does contain D3 but I've been using us for 2 years with all my geckos and haven't seen an issues. I've read about overdoses but have not seen any posts or comments about anything that provides direct evidence so I expect they are not common at all.

What do you feed your geckos? Crickets, mealworms?

I use a calcium with d3 as well. Just in a dish in the tank. I feed a variety of mealworms, superworms, Phoenix worms, wax worms and dubias. I've had two geckos on this method for years with no problems. So I keep using it with my newer 6 as well.
