Does anyone do day night temp changes or you just keep a constant 90-95 range? If you do drops what are your setups? Im looking at those thermostat controls and looks like you can only do a constant set temp, unless you buy the 100+ ones they seem to have a night drop temp.

Constant 95 to 97 degree hot spot here... Ambient air temps are always in the mid 80's... No night time temp drops and no winter slow down here...

I do day to night changes by putting a blue night light on and the temperature is 70-80.

I use a blue night bulb and do a temp drop. During the day my temps are at 95 on the hot spot, low 80's on the cool side; at night the hot side is low 80's and the cool side is low 70's.

wow never knew that?

so i can leave my heatpad on a 100 degrees and theyle be alright?

Although they can tolerate it.i would prefer my temps @ 95 deg.If u have it set at 100 they will lay where the temps suit them.they might nudge over a little to get that perfect temp for them.

The only thing to watch out for if you set your heat mat very high (in my experience anyway) is what kind of hide is over the pad. Some hides can really trap heat. I have a very shy gecko that has liked to hide under small things (I call her Cameo for that reason and she now spends about 23.5 hours a day in the magnet hide). For quite awhile a few years ago I had her in an enclosure with a planter that had a small opening at the bottom, so, of course, she decided to "live" under there. Ultimately I began to find burns on her tail and discovered that since it was such a tiny area, the temp under there was 106! Needless to say, I had to remove it.

As far as ambient temp goes, I've said before that there is a range of what works. I don't have a separate reptile room, can't afford to heat my living room to 80 degrees in the winter, and don't like AC. So, in the summer, the room is near 90 and in the winter when I'm at work is probably in the low 60's. Everyone does fine.
