Death by Sweet Potato?

My mealworms love cooked sweet potatoes, so I often give it to them. I threw a chunk in with my crickets, too, but most of them died shortly after. I actually watched one climb onto the chunk and start eating and then fall off like it was paralyzed and twitch a bunch before dying.

I can't find anything on sweet potatoes being toxic to crickets, but it sort of appeared this way. Could it be the cooking? Has anyone else fed crickets cooked sweet potatoes and have them die?

Never tried it , but I lost a bunch of mealworms to cantaloup rinds because the gut load clumped with the rind liquid and stuffed up the mealworms' mouths.
