I couldn't help it. I bought it tonight at the full price just so I could get it out of there. I'm hoping it will eat a cricket soon but right now it wants nothing to do with them.

It needs to pull through because I've never had a gecko this thin but have seen so many stories and what people have done. Some made it and others didn't. I don't want this to be the latter of the two. So lethargic....

Ohh, thats terrible Andrew, hard to look at, hopefully you can help it pull through, I don't have no idea how anyone can let that happen to any living creature, it just floors me. Good luck in helping it pull through, keep us posted!!!!

It's driving me up the wall too because I tried putting a few drops of water on it's mouth and it wouldn't even stick it's tongue out, just touched the paper towels.

It's one won't open either but I am more concerned with how lethargic it is and thin. It was on repti carpet too.

Maybe try Marcia's slurry?? http://usageckos.com/info_tipstricks.html#slurry

See if that works, I hear it works great!! Haven't tried it myself yet.

I'll look into picking up the ingredients.

I tried dropping some water on it's nose to lick up and no luck yet but it's a bit more active. It actually looked like it was alive and breathing and had it's one eye open but the bad one was still closed.

Turned off the lights and about to put it in a humid hide to see what it does if anything.

You seem to be doing everything right, I am sure that slurry will get it eating atleast you will be getting something in its belly, I am sure it has no idea what food is after the treatment it had been getting, doing what you are doing, I am sure it will turn around pretty quick. Good luck!!

Aww man, I'm sorry. Best of luck with the Leo. Last Gecko I got was at Petco... they had a 2 week old in with some older ones... I couldn't leave her so I bought here. Everything seems to be going well now.

Best of luck with her.

Were did you get it from?

A PetSmart that isn't near me. The one closer to me has better conditions.

It wasn't on sand and she it was eating 5-6 crickets in the morning and a few at night. There is no way it's eating 5-6 if it's that thin. Soon as it poops I'm going to take it in for a fecal.

The uromastyx in the pen beside it had NO greens at all. Not even those pellets some companies try and sell.

I don't have the milk thistle or the A/D food but I'm going to do the mix anyways. Hopefully it helps.

I usually try to avoid buying them if they don't look very healthy but I've made the exception once for Gonzo because he was housed with two african fat tails and then now because of thin this one is. If by some chance it doesn't pull through I will have given it a better life than it ever had at the store. But he/she will pull through with some patience, work, and time.

When I was doing the slurry earlier we went in phases. Let it sit on the nose to get mad and touch the paper towel so it would be off the nose, or let it sit there and then lick it. All in all I think got half the syringe of the slurry on his nose and a quarter of it was licked off. I'm going to try some more again in the morning because I didn't want to stress it out anymore than it is now. Try some straight pedialyte in the morning and then some slurry.

Good luck in saving the poor gecko! Make sure you wash your hand and everything else that had been in touch with the gecko EXTREMELY well. If possible, keep it in a seperate room away from all other herps. Just in case.

Good luck!!Is there anyway that you can report the petstore for the obvious reasons?

I'm going to look into reporting them. I need to figure out who to call first though.

i know you whant to give him/her a better life...this is the reason why a lot of people buy animals in pet stores...and the reason why they continued to sell animals in bad conditions..

I'm sorry I haven't responded to this thread sooner, but I am vending at a reptile show all weekend. I truly hope my slurry recipe will help this poor little gecko, but I'm afraid it may need veterinary intervention as well. I do not go into PetCo or Petsmart anymore because I cannot bear to see animals in this deplorable condition.

These people are right. When you PAY PetCo and Petsmart for these emaciated animals, you are only perpetuating their abuse. These stores see these geckos only as inventory items... regardless of their health. What incentive does the pet store have to improve the conditions for these animals when people will buy them anyway?

I don't want to go on a soap box, but when you see something like this you should take a photo of the animal with your camera phone. Tell the store manager if they do not get the animal veterinary care immediately, you will contact the ASPCA or the police... and DO IT!!! Make a scene at the store. The majority of the time they will just give you the gecko.

I wish you and the little unfortunate baby all the best, and my prayers are that with your love and dedication it will pull through.

Gonzo is my midnight blizzard also from PetSmart but the one I got him from was really good but then they started getting worse and worse. Now they have a "giant" with one of the aft's. It might be him/her alone now but it's on sand. Wanted to get it so bad but I've held out this long.

I woke up this morning to find the little on it's humid hide. It was in the log hide when I went to bed at 3am so I know it's at least moving. I'm going to try some more slurry too.
