I wish you and the little one the best of luck.

I will no longer buy from the local pest(pet) stores around here. However there is one large chain store not too far away that I would recommend as they have a great guy running the reptile department. He's always cleaning and all the animals in his care are always healthy. I've even got a few from him in the past, with no health issues. He never over crowds a cage, he'd rather run out of what someone may want then to have too many to cage safely. He's also very good about treating any animals that have issues and has a hole different setup area for herps in need of special care. I'm sure if the corp office found out they he tells customers the proper setup for these animals he may find himself out of a job. He has the corp care sheets there but says not to follow them and gives out the correct info. Too bad there are not many like him out there.

The colors are just a tad brighter tonight compared to last night. It's more active and less lethargic. I'm giving it the slurry every couple hours since it will take a few drops and then start rubbing against the paper towels to get the droplets off. Going in at the end of this week to see the vet and see what they can do if anything different from what I'm doing now.

I did the same thing when I used to work at a pet store. I would give them the care sheet but I would cross things out and write different things in and explain to them that the care sheet is wrong. I would also write website addresses on the back of the sheet so they could do there own research. I have even convinced people that were going to buy an animal into not getting it because I did not think it was right for them. If my boss would have known I would have been in big trouble! lol

I really hope you can save that poor thing! Keep up the good work and get it to a vet asap.

I never got ANY type of caresheet when I got my first leo at the petstore, and I also found a not so great one on the web that I went by, and finding other forums what I had going was totally wrong! Research is the best thing before buying I learned that myself.

The slurry is going over better than I thought it would. I don't mind the smell as much and he/she is taking more of it. Still only a few drops at a time but we are taking more and more with each round.

Now I think I am going to scare my animals half to death because I'm ready to fly off my chair and go through the roof. I decided to take some pictures tonight just because and when I was looking to see how they turned out and I thought I was seeing things but it looks like there is a teeny tiny bit of fat on it's tail. After staring at the pictures, going back and forth between them, zooming in and out and then finally cutting the tails out of both pictures I am almost positive that this little guy has a very small amount of fat on it's tail. Here are pictures from tonight and a bad picture of the tails.

Ignore the mess on the paper towels. It's from the slurry.

The tail on the left is last night and the tail on the right is from tonight.

Does anyone else think the same thing or am I just seeing things?:main_robin:

AHAHA!:2thumbsup: I knew it! Tomorrow..well today I'm going to try a cricket and a small mealworm. At least I know the slurry is working.

Now if you will excuse me I need to go gag from the smell of this litter box. This kitten gives new meaning to the phrase "big things come in small packages".

Fantastic!!! I am so glad the little one is making progress, and is taking to the slurry! It truly is a labor of love when dropper-feeding and rehabilitating these poor little babies, and we develop a very special bond with them. Let's keep hoping that it's survival instinct is as strong as your commitment for it to survive!

 That's about the size of my smile right now, ear to ear.

I know it's becoming more active because I put it in the humid hide last night, it went back out, I put it back in to give it the slurry and now it's in it's log sleeping.

I have poop! It must have done it early this morning after I went to bed. I don't know how fresh it is but I'm going to bag it up and put it in the fridge anyways.

she/he does look a little better already! Great job! Get that fecal to the vet asap! Keep up the great work!

I've spotted two. One looks like a deflated cow patty and the other is stuck to the paper towel and fell apart when I tried to get off. GRRR. But I will get one in as soon as I can.

When collecting fecal samples, you can tear off the piece of paper towel that the stool is on and put the whole thing in a plasitic baggie. The fresher the better, so get the most recent sample to the vet on the same day and do not store the sample in the fridge.

What if I can't get anything the day I go to the vet? Would something from the day before work? I'm hoping he/she will start going more now that the slurry is in it's system.

I tried offering a mealworm to it but we didn't want anything to do with it.:main_thumbsdown: I did snap a few pictures of it by the water dish though. I'll resize them and get them posted. If it will take a small cricket that would make my day.

Wow! Being that thin Im sure he/she was very dehydrated. Just look at the size of the tail the next day, it must have soaked up alot of lost water.

Most vets will let you bring in a fecal sample without an appointment.

I was thinking I would make an appointment to have him/her checked out to see if there is anything in particular the vet wants to do.

Maybe he/she will eat some waxworms. I really hope it continues to get better. Good luck and keep us updated! :main_thumbsup:
