I used to know how to delete your temporary internet files. I keep getting this pop up about some Trojan that affect something in Adobes PDF reader and it's located in my temp internet files but I totally forgot how to do it manually.

Anyone remember...?

Correct. You have to isolate it with Trend Micro Antivirus or something of the sort. I HATE Norton. Then, you need to run a defragmentaion, and start your computer all over again...

As in...erase everything and start from scratch. I had to do it too.

Go here and download the following FREE programs:

Spybot Search and Destroy

AdAware

CCleaner

Steps:
1. Install and run Spybot.exe. It will detect all malware, trojans, viruses, and startup entries in your computer. Leave the startup entries for now. Delete all Adaware/Spyware/Malware it detects. If you're worried about deleting things, Spybot gives you detailed (and sometimes amusing) information on the things it's detecting.

NOTE: Spybot RARELY misses anything. Sometimes, however, it will detect a file but cannot delete or quarantine it. In this case, restart your computer in safe mode (no networking...disconnect your ethernet cable too) and run it. It should be able to fix it in safe mode.

2. Install and run Adaware. It is similar to Spybot although (in my opinion) not as powerful. It scans for slightly different things. Delete all spyware/adware it detects.

3. Install and run CCleaner. This is one of my all time favorite and useful programs. Use these steps:
A. Cleaner Tab > Internet Explorer
- Deselect everything except Temporary Internet Files
Cleaner Tab > Windows Explorer
- Deselect everything
Cleaner Tab > System
- Select everything except for empty recycling bin
Cleaner Tab > Advanced
- Deselect everything
Cleaner Tab > Applications Tab > Firefox (if you use it)
- Deselect everything except internet cache
Cleaner Tab > Applications Tab > everything else you see
- select everything

Run

Delete all entries. Run again. Keep running until CCleaner no longer detects files to delete.

B. Registry Tab
Select everything. This cleans bad files that are left over from program installations and uninstallations. After running this you computer will be SO much faster. You'll be amazed.

Hit Run Cleaner

When asked if you want to make a registry backup, select NO.

Delete all files detected. Keep running and deleting until CCleaner no longer detects files to delete.

4. RESTART YOUR COMPUTER. Hopefully this will fix your problem!

Hope this helps! I fix computers a lot, can you tell? All of these programs are free, work GREAT, have free support and updates, although they do ask for donations to help keep the programs up to date.

If this still doesn't fix your trojan problem, download the McAfee Stinger HERE.

Thanks snowgyre,

I currently have SUPERAntispyware which the guy from dell downloaded for me and Symantic Antivirus.. should I delete these and download the ones you mentioned?

Lately I've been getting pop ups which is so rare for me that I'm getting nervous, lol. I went to bestbuy looking for a diagnostic test but for $130 I wasn't happy.

Uninstall 'em. Anything with "super" in a name is trying to compensate for something. Symantec is okay, but I've lost faith in antivirus programs lately.

If you haven't done so already, go download Firefox. It's far safer to use than Internet Explorer. Also, download the NoScript addon. It's completely free, and it automatically blocks all scripts any website will attempt to run. You have to manually tell it to allow scripts to run, so it does take a while to calibrate, but now I don't even use antivirus software because NoScript makes it impossible for me to become infected unless I actually make a stupid mistake and let the script go through.

Ugh I'm so slow sometimes. I did a virus scan because of the warning but never those to look for Spyware and crap. So I used the SUPERAntiSpyware and I'm finding a bunch of trojans I'd like to know where the hell they came from so I never dowload or go to that site ever again.

I've never received a threat in the Memory or Registry Items before now I have 4!!!

Thanks. Both were free, lol. The guy from Dell tried to make me purchase some program I'm like NO I just paid you $200 to fix the issue (I had some REALLY bad issue with an adware ad that wouldn't leave me ALONE) so he found SUPER and Anti was downloaded from my school.

Do you think Firefox is better than Chrome? I usually use AOL or Chrome rarely do I get on Internet explorer but ever since I update I've been getting pop up i can't seem to get rid of.

Firefox with NoScript is godly. 'Nuff said. You need to go get it. Also, SuperAntiSpyware whatever it's called has NOTHING on Spybot. Seriously. Spybot is amazing.

I haven't used Chrome so I'm not sure of its security features. Firefox is tried and proven, and NoScript is just amazing. It takes a while to get used to having to allow things to run (ie. if something's not working right on a site, like a video or chat or something, you have to tell NoScript to allow it by selecting from a drop down menu), but man, I wouldn't trade it for anything now. I have zero fear surfing the net because I know NoScript blocks everything unless I explicitly tell it to allow something. That degree of control is rare with software.
