Yea, well, so much for that.

I was talking to Mary (my mother-in-law) about my arm and range of motion came up. She was asking how far I could move it, to which I replied that I could move it just fine so long and it's not bearing any weight and I'm not trying to push/pull something. To demonstrate my point, I showed her.

It didn't hurt, just like I said, until I put my arm down.

That was .... oh .... 5 hours ago.

I can't sleep it hurts so much. Meds don't work...like usual.

I took a benedryl a little bit ago so I can go to sleep. I'm just waiting for it to kick in. I wish I didn't have to take it...I'm going to be a zombie in 6 hours when I have to get up for work.

If I'm lucky, my arm will be feeling better.

So much for the "no problems with movement" idea.

Owwie.

Well, I took all the pain I could stand and went to the Dr today. I couldn't tough it out til Friday. She felt with all the clicks I hear, and the increase in pain, that I could have developed tendonitis in my shoulder and elbow. She said the numbness in my fingers is unusual, and might indicate another problem ... like a herniated disk in my neck.

Yay.

She started me on steroids. Got me a shot in the ass. Also, I got some more muscle relaxers, so I should be able to sleep a bit better.

It's a start.

HAHA! Yea, funny story.

She gave me the shot, and said sorry. As I was pulling my pants back up I told her there wasn't anything thing to be sorry for, it didn't hurt. She looked really confused. 10 seconds later I was like "Wait, yea, it burns". By the time I was out of the building my arm didn't hurt because my ass did! Now that the sting wore off, my arm hurts again.

Kinda like that joke...

How do you get rid of a headache?

Ahhhhhh....relief!!!

The steroids have been a HUGE help!! OMG, this is the first time I've been mostly pain free in nearly a month. Moving my arm around still causes pain, but at least when I'm at rest it doesn't hurt. Thank God!!!

Sometimes, the only thing that DOES work is sterioids and OxyContin. I'm so glad you are getting some relief, Shanti!

I was a bit skeptical about them...and was bummed when she said it would be 12 - 24 hours before they helped. Boy did they! This morning was great. After a full day of work, my arm is back to hurting a bit - yes...I'm taking it as easy as possible - it's nowhere near as bad right now as it used to be. This is more what it felt like right after the accident.

Just a little longer til I get to see the Dr. Can't wait.

Well, so much for that. The pain is fully back this morning. I'm pretty bummed that it wore off so fast. At least I don't have to work today. However, I do have to take care of Cadence. Ever try to take care of a baby with 1 arm?

I understand what you're feeling about trying to take care of Cadence with one arm. When Zach was about a week old I started having a reaction to the epi they gave me. I couldn't even pick up a small saucer dish, my hand hurt so much.

Poor girl, she's not feeling good. She's got a tooth coming in, and she just wants me to pick her up and cuddle with her. It makes things really difficult because I can't hold anything with my hand unless I want to pay for it. Made for some shitty sleep again. I haven't gotten a full 8 hours in over a week. I need my sleep!

Yea, I thought so too. I'm still on a dose pack of steroids too....only on day 2 as a matter of fact. Eric wonders if maybe I was sleeping funny last night. My neck is sore today, has been all day. I've had the odd pain in the neck once every few days, but it hasn't been like this. I'm so glad I'm seeing the Dr. tomorrow AM. I'm praying he'll have something that will help. The few hours of relief I got was a freaking tease.

Well, that was pretty much a waste of money. He confirmed that he thinks it's my neck, and not my arm, that's causing all these problems. He's referred me to a neurologist. The earlist appointment I've been able to get is 2 weeks away. I've been calling around to see if I can get something sooner, but no luck to far.

This is just getting worse. Now, in addition to all the other pain I've been having, I've been getting numb/tingly areas on the side of my face. I seriously need help and no one seems to give a rats ass. When I told the Dr. about it today he just said "OOO, that's not good." No addition meds, nothing for pain, nothing to help me sleep, no further tests. He just said that I don't have to wear the sling. When I told him it hurts to move my arm, he said to wear it. Big help.
