Do reptiles like soft things?

I've always wondered if geckos and other reptiles like soft things such as we do and other mammals. If I were to give one of my leos like a small pillow or something would he use it or would he rather use a rock? Or a soft blanket like hide or stone one?

im not sure if they "like" soft things, but i have seen some people put pillows in beardie enclosures. my leos seem content to just sprawl out on the bottom of their tubs or tanks.

I think a soft pillow or small rock is the same thing to them. I use a small sand bag to hold down the probes (ok sand bags are not as soft as pillows but not as hard as rock either), but my geckos pretty much ignore them. I also have towels in their enclosure, most of them will sleep under it sometimes. They probably feel safe and secure with the towel touching their backs, like a burrow. Some pics for ya!

I heard that someone's gecko liked laying on cotton balls. I tried it, and mine ignored it ;) I guess its just your leos preference

Only one of my geckos likes the cotton balls, HOWEVER all of them love my fleece blanket that they burrow in when I take them out. They try to burrow into every crack they can and all 6 have nearly fallen asleep at least once in that blanket. I also notice they love laying near a pulse point (wrist- for the babies, over heart, on upper thigh, on shoulder near the neck, and at inner elbow joint). I think they find it soothing and warm.

Fae loved to dig herself under the reptile carpet. But I assumed it was because it wasn't getting hot enough for her. Then when I switched to paper towels she did the same, but I'm assuming because they like substrate, at least in my experience that's what they like.

We found that using sponges in water bowls helped with not having as many drowned crickets when those were our main feeders. Several of our geckos found the sponges to be great pillows, especially the hatchlings.

Don't use sponges, they harbour bacteria. :)

Haha thanks. I use Canon G9; manual setting ISO 400, macro with slow shutter speed (1/10" - 1/5") and very steady hands of course. :p I use this setting for all my photos.

My leo seems to actively seek out "uncomfortable" things like lumpy rocks and sharp edges ... no pics of him on the new computer, but far as I can tell he likes roughing it. I've got a beanie gecko like the one Sausage posted (only in less-realistic colors!), maybe I should see if he fancies that. :p
