Do You have to keep male in for the whole season?

I read a little bit about basic breeding care. It seems like if you wanted less than the possible 20 babies then you could just take the male out early. The sites I read didn't say anything about removing the male in season, kind of like it just wasn't done, but no reason why.

So, I am curious as to why. Does it harm the female since she has started to produce the eggs? Do males stay with the female during the whole season in the wild?

Leopard geckos retain sperm. She only has to breed once to lay eggs that are fertile for the entire season. Removing the male is generally a good idea, as he will pester her constantly. Most breeders only place the male in for a few days to a week when the female is ovulating and then remove him. She can lay up to 20 eggs regardless of whether or not he stays or is removed.

Occasionally, for whatever reason, a female will start laying infertile eggs halfway through the season. In that case, it might be best to place them back together for a brief period of time so that he can get her sperm stores back up.
