Do you separate clutches?

I have a second clutch of eggs that I put in the incubator. The first clutch is at 33 days and cooking around 83 degrees. They are a bit larger than the new ones, hopefully that's a good sign. My question is, do I have to worry that if the first eggs hatch they will disturb the very newly laid second pair? There is a definite bulls-eye in pair #2.... or will they be OK as long as I get the hatchlings out ASAP? :uneasy:

I'm not sure. I always just use smaller deli cups and put only 1 clutch in each cup so I don't have to worry about that.

Hmmmm, maybe I should rearrange a bit. Would it be bad news to move them around enough to put each into new containers? Thanks for the reply!

I use medium size containers and put multiple clutches in a container. Each egg is marked with a letter for the female's name and a clutch number. Last year I was kind of haphazard with where I put what. Now I have 9 eggs per container --3 rows of three. I haven't had problems in the past with hatchlings dislodging the other eggs, although someone on another thread had a hatchling that dug all over the place.

I put 1 clutch pet deli cup. Sometimes I'll put 1 egg per deli cup depending on the size of the deli cups. Taller cups get 2 and shorter ones get 1. Or if it's a very important clutch that I want no mistakes, it's 1 per cup.

Ok guys, thanks for the feedback. I didn't know if the hatchlings were likely to dig around or what. I think I wll sink a piece of plastic between the eggs from each clutch, just to be on the safe side. I'm paranoid, I hate to disturb them too much.

Well sometimes we have problems with hatchlings, and sometimes we don't.. I think if there is a high chance that you won't find any new hatchlings right away (because you're at work all day or whatever), then you should put one clutch to a container. We never had any problems with hatchlings digging up the incubation containers until just recently..

We normally find our hatchlings right away (I am almost always home), but this last time, we didn't.. Needless to say, all of the other 5 eggs were turned over and just all over the place.. we didn't find them until 4-5 hours later.. I re-arranged them and they still look good (it's been three days now), all except for one that I found mold on last night :( I wiped the mold off and we're just hoping for the best on that one. On a good note, though, one of them hatched the very next day :) all of the 4 remaining eggs are only 1 week away from hatching too.. If we end up losing 4 eggs I am going to be extremely heartbroken to say the least!
