Do you use grit?

In all the years I've kept leos, Ive never dont this. But many breeders insist (and some books) that they need digestive grit (like birds) and that you should provide it in a little dish so they can use it at will. Something like playbox sand mixed with finely crushed eggshell, or something.
Does anyone do this?
If you do, what exactly do you use? :main_huh:
I have read that this is particularly important if you feed mealies, because they are harder to digest.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

P.S. I seldom use mealies. But when I do, I pick the white ones that have just shed. They arent nearly as crunchy, I know because I've eaten them! :D

I've fed mealworms almost exclusively since I first started with my geckos about 4 1/2 years ago.....I've never offered "grit" and I've never had a problem.

Grit

[ok from what I understand the egg shell helps with egg laying by giving calcium, at least thats what shaun at VMS herp .com says just go to care or breeding and theres some stuff on it.

I've never heard of this before- it sounds like an awful idea. Geckos get impacted when fed sand/grit (intentionally or not, eg-substrate problems). And only some birds even need grit. Parrots also can get impacted, for example.

Yeah, steer clear of the grit, and any of the sources that are telling you that you need it.
