I get 1000 3/4" crickets about every month. I keep them in a 10 gallon tank with a screen cover. I cover the bottom of the tank with about 1/2" of gutload and then put in some of the egg crate they come with, 2 toilet paper tubes and 4 small containers of cricket water gel (I buy the crystals online and make my own). I have a small kritter keeper that I keep loaded with the crickets I"ll be using immediately. Whenever I want more crickets, I shake out the eggcrate and a lot of them run into the toilet paper rolls. Then I shake the toilet paper rolls into the kritter keeper. This has been working very well. I also have a beardie who eats her share of crickets.

I use 1000 crickets per week and i have a man that raises and sells crickets and worms that lives less than 10 miles form me that delivers every week year round and the best part is that there is no shipping to deal with
I am very lucky

I gut load them immediately upon receiving them and try and keep a week ahead with having the gut loaded ones on hand

The paper towel rolls work really well along with the egg crates for them to climb on

I use the deep sterlite tubs with the middle of the lids cut out and a screen glued over it for ventilation and this has worked for me for years

I really do not like crickets but I have some lizards that just don't eat worms-lol

I'd say the 10 gallon would be a little small for 1,000 crickets. I've got a cricket tub from Armstrong that's about that size but only houses 500, anything over they die off quickly. I use their larger tub for 1,000+ large crickets.

I've ordered crickets from eBay before, but you have to watch out because one of the sellers ships a load of spiders and those fuzzy larva worm things with their crickets. I forget who it was, but I ordered from them a handful of times and every time I'd get at least 5 spiders and 20 fuzzy larva worm things. I mean other than the extra bugs I was getting, the crickets were in good shape.

I personaly, would stick with a regular cricket breeder. There's a guy in GA that sales 1,000 for pretty cheap and I get them next day (only b/c I'm in GA). Shippings pretty cheap too. Maybe hunt for an online breeder in CA to get cheaper shipping prices.
