Actually, I'm beginning to wonder if it's not so much trolling; as it is the beginning of the end of leo breeding without a genetic mess of unknown hets all over the marketplace.

I have occasionally contacted folks with very messy public breeding projects on iHerp to try to gently let them know about the issues involved, and I usually get a very snarly, "oh you don't know what you're talking about, it's MY PROJECT so SHUT UP!" sort of response.

I sometimes get an "OMG THANK YOU for telling me!" sort of response, but they're getting rarer.

I fear for my hobby.

Pretty soon it will raise the value of "correct" animals. I see that same thing in my nearby community.

I know plenty of very reputable breeders who have deliberately crossed albino strains... they just don't make it public knowledge. What secrets I know within the community on this very topic have resulted in extremely high egg and neonatal mortality.

With that said, I still think it is irresponsible regardless of what a genetics calculator tells you that the probabilities might be, and it would take a lot of money and study to determine if indeed the offspring were double homozygous albinos. In this case, indiscriminate morph crossing will only lead to complex issues and not loads of money for coming up with yet another 'new' combination morph.

As many geckos as there are available, there's no need to create complex issues by crossing albino strains! Nor would I trust a seller that had a double het like that available, for fear they may have others not properly labeled. Call me cold, mean, whatever, I don't care- the eggs should be destroyed IMO.

I prefer being direct and I would consider it rude of me if I wasted your time with frivolities that added nothing to the technical aspect of the discussion I engaged in.

Being intentionally obtuse through excessive verbosity is a snotty defense mechanism, and it doesn't help others because it is NOT direct. It's the very frivolity you claim to be avoiding. Like you have to smack down others with your intellect. It is rude.

And I can honestly say that I recognise it as such because I've been guilty of it myself.

There are times for technical descriptions for the sake of accuracy, but you use them all the time as your only mode of communication. Why?
What do you have to prove?
