I have what I believe are two geckos with dwarfism. I rescued the two from someone who only fed them very little (2 crix every 2 days I believe) and gave them no heat at all or very little at the most.

I managed to purches on off her at 2 weeks old then the other at 3 months and suprisingly the one I bought at 2 weeks is much much bigger. The one I rescued at 2 months is still about hatchling size (was much smaller when I got him)

Pictures can be posted if anyone is interested

About Dwarfism in Geckos.
Hi. The last part of 2008 I hatched a gecko that from all
information and comparison photos of previous documented
ones, my opinion along with others appears that it is a Dwarf.
IMHO your photos appear to be Small Geckos. It sounds like
possibilities of mistreated in the supply of food and most
likely suppliments. This could or just geckos that will remain small.
I have a hatching that is a small gecko that is a sister to the
Dwarf.................Body proportions are not the same in the dwarf.
The body is not long as the tail but round as a silver dollar
and a skeletal high (hump) is at the location where the tail and the
body meet........Other dwarfism reports were in 2005 and
2006 that I found. In those cases the photos looked as
mine does............Here is "Spider"(dwarf) and her small
sister (not a dwarf) that share a condo together.
They are both staying close to 4 -- 4 1/2 inches....
eat very good, lick supplements, have very keen senses
and appear that nature tried to help them in the coloration,
since they were a result of SHT and Aptor breeding.
I do think with good care from you there is a very good
chance the size of yours will increase. They are very
nice looking geckos and I think they are
now in good hands for a much better life.
Thank you for that. Take care. HJ

Thank you that was very helpful! What do you think cased the dwarfism in your leo?. Are the limbs short or just the body because the most common forms of dwarfism are shortness of limbs.

Dwarfism

No real clue on the cause.
The Mother (1st year breeder) produced 9 babies
from 9 eggs with the others normal sizes.

From what I gather on it.....
Small, (just as people 5 feet to 6 footers)
Dwarf (Small, not proportioned to size)
And as we think of dwarfism (little people) in humans,
we mostly would see as you said. (short limbs)
In Spiders case I always felt the legs were longer, as a "spider"
or as I like to say " Angelina Jolie "............

take care. HJ

It looks to me like the geckos in question were just stunted from lack of proper nutrition. Hopefully they'll catch up with a little TLC!
