Earthquake

Well in the last few months our area has become very active with earthquakes. Last night we had a big one at 12:29am. I was doing homework and all of a sudden things started falling in the house. It was first registered as a 5.0 but was later down graded to a 3.7. I live about 3 miles from the epicenter and there was no way it was that small.

When I checked on the animals all their water dishes were half emptied. Grrrrrrr!! Now I have hundreds of messy cages. To add insult to injury I panicked and ran to the feeder room to find 4 tubs of superworms running around. Grrrrrrr again!!! Everything that's live is ok but now I have a large clean up. :(

Cody, wow... I can somewhat relate, as we had a 5.3 earthquake here in San Jose late last year... and holy cow, was I freaking out about my animals! I live about 9 miles from the epicenter of that quake... so it rumbled for about 30 seconds and things fell all over the house... not to mention I'm on the third floor of my building!

Gatta love living out in the west... haha.

I'm glad to hear that you and your animals are ok!! That is really all we can ask for in these type of situations. Keep us updated. :)

Yikes! I've never had the pleasure of being shaken by an earthquake. But I sure do hate hurricanes! I'm glad everything is ok, other than massive amounts of tubs to clean.

Thanks everyone! All of you from California can certainly relate. I was too young but I can't remember the last time we had an earthquake this big. After the big one last night we've had over 120 aftershocks. You never know when or how hard they'll hit. I'm just glad not to be in a high rise building.

I just got done replacing all the mealworm dishes. They were full of water with all the mealworms dead. That was a nasty mess. One bit of good news... I think I found all the stray superworms of the few thousand that were dumped. :D

Holy smokes!! I remember the first (and only) earthquake I ever felt was while I was in Las Vegas. I've lived in California my whole life, but never felt earthquakes here. Go figure!!

Glad you and yours are safe, Cody. :main_yes:

I remember the big quake we had in 89. That was a great World Series. Both Bay Area baseball team A's and Giants. That quake in San Jose wasn't bad. Just to show my age, I was in Elementary school when the big quake hit Livermore and turned the road into waves. Now that was freaky. I guess in the mist of this rambling I am trying to say that living in California all my life, I just got used to EarthQuakes. Its just part of life. I am glad you were ok and the damage was minimal.
