Ok, so I've been living with my boyfriend until recently and have not been actively caretaking for the leos (they stayed with my parents- they're both my mom's and mine). We've tried various moist hideys but they don't seem to like any of them, so we've just been keeping an eye on them when they shed (their toes etc). Well, when I moved back home, I noticed that my mom hasn't been watching as carefully because two of my girls, Aria and Shiva, had a couple layers of shed on their toes- tight. So I soaked them and rubbed the shed off very delicately, no problem. The bloodflow was resumed, so I don't think they're going to lose any toes. The problem? I was in such a rush to get the shed off, I was worried they would lose their toes, that in Shiva's bath I.. forgot to add Start Right. This is the first time, in 3 or 4 years, any of them has been exposed to chlorine. Well, she shed again right away, I think because it dried her skin out. Do I have to worry that she has been harmed from the exposure? Should I do anything for her skin?

Thanks for the reply. I am very careful and diligent with the care I give my animals (worked in a nature center for a few years as well, taking care of iguanas, crows, etc), but I was so focused on getting the shed off their toes, I completely forgot.

Yeah she seems fine, I just was concerned the chemicals could do something to her that wasn't apparent by looking at her.

I have read a thread on tap water verse bottled water. seemed pretty even split between the people that use tap verse bottled. I would think that most tap water has all kinds of chemicals in it, but not enough to harm as humans drink and shower in it. Is tap something that we should worry about?

If tap water is safe enough for you and me to drink, then I think geckos will be okay if their skin is in it. I use tap in my water bowls, and my geckos lay in those all the time, without negative effects.
