egg bound or not?

Hi, I have a gecko that is about 9 months old and the last 2 months I have noticed her belly getting bigger and her body more pear shaped. I have never breed her, So could it be possible that she is egg bound with infertile eggs? And if so what can I do to help her. I do notice that there are spots that are starting to turn a little red on her belly. I wouldn't think that her heat pad could do that cuz she has had that pad since day one of me having her.

A picture of her belly would help, just to make sure the red spots aren't something to be concerned about. I wouldn't be too concerned that she's egg bound unless she seems really sick, and you see her straining to lay. Mine lay infertile eggs (they have never been bred), and they get quite big, and their belly drags before they lay. The best thing you can do is make sure she is getting her calcium, and provide her with a lay box.

Thanks. I will try and get a picture up of her belly. I haven't figured out this whole gecko forums site yet so I don't know how to upload a picture on here and attatch it to a comment. Do you?

First, click the "Go Advanced" button:

Then click on the little paperclip ("Attachments" will pop up):

This screen will pop up, from there you can browse for the pics you want, once you have them all hit "Upload" and they will be attached to your post.

If you are prepared for hatchlings, have done your reasearch, and have room and food for everyone, I don't see why not. 9 months old and 50 grams is ok in my opinion...just be prepared for "first-year breeder infertile eggs"
