I have a couple questions about incubation since i'm about to have my first couple clutches coming... I plan on using the method on Albey's site but i'd also like to know....
Does anyone have problems with condensation dripping on the eggs?
Also where do you place the probe? If it's inside the egg box isn't the container not air tight anymore?
Any experience here is really appreciated...
Thanks

Sure Shawn I might be able to help you with this one. I used her site also works great you dont have to rehydrate the perlite at all. You can Put the probe inside or out. I put my probe inside the container closest to the eggs. And if you put it out side you also need to have the probe closest to the eggs as you can. You can Temp sex also I'm doing females i set it around 80-82 for them. But i like to use 80 because from just beening on here you can get some males at 82-83. A good mix is 85-86 and male are mostly 88-90. Just remember anything over 95 and under 75 can kill the baby gecko growing in the egg. You need to open the contianer to let the air out once a week. The weight of perlite is 1 part perlite to .8 water BY WEIGHT. I think i answered all your question. If I'm not all right someone else will also help you out. Good Lucky I hope there good and they Hatch (JoHn)

I know the temps and stuff for temp. sexing i just need to know if condensation is going to be a problem.
also if i put the probe inside the eggbox is it goin to ruin the air tight seal that will keep in humidity?
When you open up the eggbox do you find that there is water dripping all over the eggs?

?????? Anyone else care to comment? CoolGecko, you just made a bunch of posts asking questions about egg incubation and I think i'd rather have information from someone who really has experience. I would refrain from offering advice to people when you're asking questions about the same topic.....

He actually did get his information from a very experienced person:
http://www.albeysreptiles.com/incubate-eggs.htm

Thats exactly what he said, but in shorter words. So infact, he was giving you reliable information.

If you read my original post... I have already seen Albey's page.
The questions that I am asking were not mentioned on there. If you look a couple posts back you can see that CoolGecko has had his own problems with egg incubation.... I have a problem getting information from any person sitting behind their keyboard copying a caresheet they saw on someone's web page. There are a lot of experienced breeders that post on this forum and I value their opinions.
Can anyone else answer my original questions?

By using Albey's method you shouldn't get water condensating on the top. If there is, most likely there is too much water in there. I use that method as well and the only condensation I find is at the surface of the perlite along the side of the tub.

steve, sounds good but where do you put the probe for your thermostat? i know a lot of people use the hovabators i think you might as well but just curious.

I put my probe on top of the egg container that is the closest to the middle of the incubator. I have more then one egg container. One for each female. I also have a large incubator. Last year when I used a hovabator I only had two egg containers so I made a dummy container with the mix and all and put the probe in there. I found it to be a pain to have the probe in the container with the eggs in it. Either way should work though. You should be able to close the lid all the way with the probe in it.

This is my third season using a hobovator and Albey's method. I never have condensation problems with the eggs. As a matter of fact I've found that occasionally there is a bit of denting. I add a few squirts of water from a mister and the problem has always been solved. I have my proportional thermostat probe and temp probe next to each other right on top of one of the containers. I incubate at 80-82 and have not yet hatched out a male.

You may get some condensation in the container... It is to be expected... Humidity + heat = condensation... But it should not be so much were it starts dripping... If it does, you have added too much water to the incubation substrate... Just be sure that there is plenty of space between the egg and the top of the container and you should not have a problem...
