I have atleast one female that lays eggs even though she has not been with a male, I know this happens sometimes, but my question is can the eggs be fertile without a male?. I heard a few mixed opinions on this, the ones she layed I didnt find intill after they were dead because I wasnt expecting it and she layed them in her hide. Just basically want to know if they can be fertile or not?.

No. Just like everything else in nature, there needs to be fertilization by a male... unless there is such a thing as Immaculate Conception in a leopard gecko.

Breeding 101 Leopard Geckos are Sexual not Asexual. A male and female MUST mate before eggs can be fertile. No Immaculate Conception. :main_no: LOL

uuummmmm unless she's been with a male in the last 6-12 months, I'd say NO!!!

Actually Marcia, there is a thing called Parthenogenesis...

It has been documented in quite a few reptile species... Although this has not been documented in leopard geckos, it has been seen in other gecko species and even in Varanids like the Komodo dragon... I would not say it can never happen in leos...

So in nature, there does not always need to be a male invoved for reproduction even in complex organisms...

I agree Gregg we really can't say it's not possible, cause anything is possible, and who knows we may actually see it happen one day. However until we see it with proof, I'm sticking with not probable.
