Hey my friend is wanting a gecko but his house runs of a key meter ( which means he sometimes runs out of elecrticity)

he was wondering how long leopard geckos can go for without the heat mat being on as i assume it will take sometime to cool down anyway.

as if it runs out in the middle of the night he wont be able to get more electricity till the morning?

Its not really a matter of how long it can go with it off. Its more about how cold it gets when its off and how frequently it will be going off. Also, personally I would not want a UTH to be losing power and getting it (on/off) that frequently without potential fear of causing failure of the UTH.

I hate to say it, but if you cant insure the complete saftey of the animal it may just be best to go with something thats not so electricity dependent.

Depending on where he lives that could mean a few diffrent more broad temp reps.
