not sure if this is the right section to put this in so please move it if need be.

Well ive had a male enigma in my collection for about a month now and ive recently noticed that hes sometimes pretty unstable on his feet. he'll just be running along and his legs kinda give way on him on occasion, its fairly weird as i feel hes a perfectly healthy leo, just this kinda got me concerned slightly.
Can this be anything to do with him being an Enigma? I dont know much about the morph but ive heard they can suffer from strange behavior.
Would this be a breeding problem as i did have some plans for him?

thanks:main_thumbsup:

If it's just a little shaky everyonce in a while and you breed it to an unrelated non-Enigma you probably won't see the same problems in the offspring. Outcrossing is slowly diminishing the weird behavior. At least that's what we've observed.

From what i know you can outcross and lower the effects of the enigma genetics. Its one of those things where YOU can only decide if you want to breed or not. I don't see how the trait will be completly breed out when its the enigma gene and its the gene that has the problems and adding other genetics only mask the "tweeks" of the enigma. I havn't breed enigmas just have talked to alot of people and done alot of research so I can't say for experiance just knowledge gained. I hope that someone can help this morph out and get a strong genetic line because they will be around for a long time now.

From what I understand, Blizzards had a lot of problems when they first came out, but do to proper breeding, it went away. I'm sure it will also work for the enigmas.

Justin your knowledge deceives you. Many morphs have had problems early on that have been successfully outcrossed with no further sign of problems. It takes time, but it can be done. I'm comfortable in saying that I know first hand that the problem can be outcrossed. I have an Enigma that has the problem to some degree and his Enigma offspring show absolutely no sign that the problem has carried over. It can be done. Of the 16 Enigmas in my collection only two show any sign of the problem.
