i was thinking of getting some enigmas this year and was talking to my reptile shop and they were saying that the breeders they are using dnt have the syndrome now as adults but as a hatchling they did have it is it possible that they grow out of it or is it just the fact they are adults and they have better control of it?

also if a enigma is bred to a mac snow is it possible that the syndrome will be bred out or would it continue?

not all enigma hatchlings are born with severe problems, some are. not all of them grow out of it, some do. no matter what though is that even "normal" enigmas have some issues even if they are almost completely unnoticeable. as far as crossing an enigma with a snow will not necessarily breed out any neurological problems. what give the enigma, the enigma look also give it the neurological problems associated with them no matter how sever or minor. most breeders think the more severe symptoms are unable to be outcrossed. i believe that with some outcrosssing it can become less but never able to completely get rid of it. i have five enigmas, most of them show almost no signs and some show a little bit more neurological problems but none of my enigmas have any severe neurological problems. i had a bell enigma once that had very severed neurological problems and unfortunately i had to put her down.

From what I've gathered outcrossing can somewhat minimize the 'issues', but I would bet these issues are a unwanted side effect of the enigma gene...and are synonymous. In my opinion/experience :)

Adding Mack snow would be a bad idea IMOE. Just look at all the problems in the homozygous form of Mack snow (skeletal deformities, nutrient uptake issues, and a general failure to thrive and grow)...would you really want to toss Enigma into that mix?!?

I have heard many times about some Mack snows having trouble growing and thriving (and dealt with it myself) but have never heard anything about the other stuff. Do you (or anyone) have more info or an article to point me to?

As far as skeletal deformities, I'm assuming he means the skull? Super Snows generally have odd shaped heads, although it's hard put my finger on exactly what is different.
