Entertaining a gecko

Hello, I know this might sound like a strange question... but how do you keep your leos entertained, both in and out of their tanks? I have 2, have had them for about a year now. Desmond is not interested in anything I do for him and seems very happy just to eat, sleep and climb around inside his viv and really doesn't like me picking him up or coming out (he makes that strange little cackling noise when I get him out! :main_rolleyes:) however my other leo Nessy just seems to want constant attention (as I am typing this he is sat watching!) He was a rescue... and I am not sure whether it's because I held him so much to start with... but he just doesn't seem to like being in his viv! The temps are fine, and he has plenty to do in their, things to climb, different levels/hides etc... but as soon as he sees me in the room he digs at the door until I get him out, he is happy to sit on my shoulder/on the computer desk whlie I am on here and he often sits and watches TV with me... he is sometimes out for hours. Do any of you know of any "toys" or things i could get him, I am worried he is bored! I've had a look in the local reptile place and there isn't really anything he's not already got that I could buy him. What do you do to keep your leos happy and entertained? :)

I guess let Geckos be Geckos

let them explore outside the tank once in a while, just keep a good eye on them

I also have a range of geckos that go from staying in one place all the time and not liking to be handled, to trying to get out all the time. I don't think they get "bored" like humans, but I do think some of them have preferred activities and want to access them whenever possible. Another thing is that they have no sense of time, so if you've had them out for 10 minutes or an hour, I don't think that makes any difference to them. The ones I have that seem to like to come out enjoy primarily sitting on my shoulder and "exploring" behind the couch pillows. The only other think I can think of is to periodically put new things in the tank for the more curious ones. They don't even need things to climb on; some of them like to stare at new things. My gecko who likes to come out the most is the only gecko I've ever had who noticed when I put a new background up in his tank. He actually turned completely around and stared at it for 20 minutes.

I didn't realise they don't have a sense of time... although that does make sense... because sometimes Nessy will sit watching TV with me for ages, but as soon as he goes back in his viv he is digging to get out again! Aww thats really cute, he must have appreciated his new background hehe :) thanks for your help :)
