I thought that was pretty much a given. You wouldn't want a heat pad under an enclosure with any sort of insulating substrate. There are a few ways to get around that though depending on your heat source.

I thought leos don't really dig? Other than to lay eggs, I mean....
They dont, I wouldnt use this substrate for them to burrow but to hard pack it, that would be close to their natural habitat, besides for slate, a hard packed clay/sand is the most natural thing for leos:main_thumbsup:

Majority of mine do too... They are always pushing up the paper towel.
Mine generally dont, gravid females sometimes but thats it. Generally if their not gravid or male and digging they would be looking to hide, I would assume.

Well, the excavator stuff go there today. You DO need to add water. Its in our males tank right now. A word of warning, 10 lbs of the stuff is only enough to do about half of a 10 gallon tank x-x. I made a tunnel for the gecko and hes hiding in it. Pictures Pending.

I work at Petco and we're having a employee contest who can build the coolest/most interesting tank with that stuff in our district. You have to add water to it. It's just like clay, and you mold it however you like to. You have to use some type of support if you want to make caves. We blew up balloons and packed the stuff around the balloons til it hardened then popped the balloons.

It's pretty interesting and it holds up pretty well, but when you clean it you have to either pick out all of the droppings or start all over from scratch.

I wouldn't buy it in my opinion.

I bought three ten pound bags and used it for my Akie and it looks and works great and he seems to like it but don't know if I would use it for leo's. maybe in a display tank but not if your planing on breeding leos.
