I use Reptisun. You don't mention what kind of geckos you have. If you have leopard geckos, they really don't need lights in particular. If you have another kind of gecko, please let us know to insure I've moved your thread to the proper sub-forum (see below).

Just out of curiosity, what type of hood is it? You should only put the basking spot bulbs in domes where they stand upright, not in the ones where they lay on their sides. That said, six months isn't bad for a heat bulb. I generally go through a couple each year.

Okay, bulbs are appropriate for that fixture then. As I mentioned, 6 months doesn't seem a bad life span for a heat bulb. Only suggestion I have is to be sure you never touch the bulbs with your bare hands. Always use gloves or clean towels, as getting skin oils on the bulb or socket can cause problems. Also, make sure you do not spray while hot or get any cleaning solutions on it.

The other caution I have is to monitor your temperatures carefully. Crested geckos are a cool species, and temperatures much over 80 F can stress and kill them. Ensure that portions of the enclosure are remaining nice and cool, especially in the summer. If not, you may need to remove the heat bulbs.
