Eye shut for over a week now

My albino leo has had her eye shut for over a week now. I was flushing it with water during that time to see if it was perhaps a stuck shed. No such luck.

She is under two years old and weighs around 70 grams

I just got back from the vet and he prescribed her Ciprofloxacin Ophthalimic Solution .3%

She has no discharge or anything and her eyeball looks in great shape - the pupil dilates and constricts. She just keeps it shut now and it looks slightly puffy. She will keep it open for several minutes after flushing it with water and now giving her the drops.

Any one experience anything like this?

I've never heard of something like this, I'm pretty new to Leos so that shouldn't worry you. Hope she gets better!

Well I've never experianced it myself, but i've seen other reptiles with this problem. Sounds like your little girl has conjunctivitis. That's why you got Cipro. It's an antibiotic. I've had conjunctivitis myself, it hurts and thats why her eye is shut. Keep using the antibiotic as instructed (three times daily, I think?) she SHOULD respond. It's a pretty powerful one.

Yup 3 drops a day for a week he said and call him if it doesn't seem to be working by then.

If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take you to get over it?

It usually goes away after a week to 10 days. It kinda feels like you have something in your eye and you can't get it out. Your eye gets EXTREMELY sensitive to any kind of light, so if you're using one in her enclosure it might be more comfortable for her if you turned it off, or switch it with a moonlight bulb. She will probably open her eye in the dark. Keep using those meds religiously. If today is day 1, she should start feeling better by Friday.
